From what I can find LC experienced a confirmed gust at 133 mph and sustained winds of 86 mph

That was only at the airport. Like I said I agree with his premise and he is right that not many here have truly felt hurricane force winds, but I was just saying Laura was higher.

I know at the plant we work st we had 16r mph gust. I have seen video of the guys on the tugs that had to stay and they show the gauges in the videos, I know as mentioned the bouy in big lake broke after a 180 mph gust.

I know what operation palm tree or whatever in Cameron read.

All higher than he said.

Again his premise is correct though as almost everyone left for Laura that post here. Most left for Rita and Katrina. Not many others since Andrew. Most left for Andrew after what it did to homestead.

Most left Galveston/ south Houston for Ike, etc etc.

And after all that preaching, he says he is staying in MC which will get hurricane force winds. Aint no trophies for staying.

06z HWRF not as doomcaney with the mb upon approach.

I'm so fricking ignorant when it comes to "hurricane-speak."
I try every year to understand what this means in relation to time relative to my location (BR), and forget after every season

Hurricanes Andrew, Gustav, and Isaac for sure.
Most likely Katrina and Cindy (but cannot officially confirm those came this far east.

HWRF is a hurricane model (think the spaghetti lines), 06z is the time 06 zulu (UTC+0 offset)

I believe (man where the hell have 777 ran off too) but I think take off windspeed cutoff is 30-40kts? We have a few pilots on TD.

mean... I generally enjoy most of your posts. But how does this prove your point at all? Hurricane 1 is 74mph sustained... so all 3 of those places experienced greater than that.

I gave three locations that experienced hurricane force winds, now I’m looking for the posters that stayed. We may have had 3 stay in Sally that I can recall. Don’t recall anyone that stayed for Laura (among our posters here).

Parents never evacuated until Katrina, went to Zachary with little sister and her family.

Most memorable were Betsy and Camille, was rather young for both.

I’m surprised there aren’t heavier totals on the east side of the path. Seems like WPC has the heavier totals right on the path and even to the west of the forecast path, which is weird.

Maybe because it's moving so fast? Which is a good thing.

This is always how it is an hour before the NHC update. Once it comes out, that will be discussed and we'll start looking at the 12z models though at this point there's not a whole lot that should change.

The waiting for the update is a shitshow.
