When I was a yute working at the car dealership prepping cars, an old man asked me to remove his deer whistle from the front bumper of his car and install it on his new car. From what I recall, it was funnel shaped like a miniature bugle. He seemed to think it worked.

The GF is telling me to get a deer whistle for the truck. This all seems BS.
I worked at paper mills for 15 yrs. Tons of those good Ole boys had them on their trucks.
It's cheap and it probably does work to a degree.

Get a good thick steel bumper with a tall brush guard.
Deer whistles were all the rage in the 90s, some insurance agents even gave them out. Most folks thought they were not effective.
The outdoors board may be a better place to ask this question.

My online girlfriend says they work. She has given me good advice about crypto investing and using ivermectin, so you can trust her.

The whistle is absolute BS. I worked for a large pipeline company for years. We had lots of trucks colliding with deer in west TX. it affected our insurance rates so we started investigating accidents, prevention, etc. in the end we outfitted all trucks with aftermarket heavy duty bumpers. Still hit just as many deer, but there was no damage, no claims, and eventually premiums reduced. Case closed

Have your SO hang her arse out the window while you drive. If she learns how to hold it into the wind just right, it will whistle. Either that or it might be the area hunters whistling whenever you pass. Oh, and a little snake oil on it does help sometimes.

How Effective Are Deer Whistles to Avoid Vehicle Collisions?
Conclusions
Given their research experience, the Georgia-based researchers concluded the following: “Considering the challenges of producing sound at appropriate intensities and distances from a moving vehicle, deer hearing capabilities, human safety concerns, and our observed lack of behavioral responses of deer to sound treatments, auditory deterrents do not appear to be appropriate for prevention of deer-vehicle collisions.”
LINK
Discouraging Results
Based upon the observed response of 319 deer, the researchers concluded the pure tones did not alter deer behavior in such a way as to prevent deer-vehicle collisions. In other words, the simulated sounds of deer whistles were no more effective than no sound at all.
So i was right. Folks that buy these are pissing off all the dogs for no fricking reason. I swear people are retarded. It's nice when you get downvoted by the common idiots of the OT before someone comes in wit a study that shows who the idiots are.

If it stops a deer from running and hitting your truck its not. A deer will frick up a vehicle.

Dude they run in front your vehicle. We have a 5mile stretch where it feels like the deer all want to die. Fckk them, yes ill disturb their asses.

It doesn't. It's confirmation bias. As the guy in this thread posted earlier they tried all that shite and the only solution was big grills on the vehicle.

It gives the deer that "Uh OH!" moment right before you hit them.
Valuable in that respect.
They can't tell God, "I never heard it coming."

If you want to hit less deer, drive really fast and refuse to even tap your brakes.
I have hit 0 sense refusing to even pretend to care. Before that it was 3 or 4 a year. Enough that I have had a winch bumper on every vehicle for 10 years.

Depends, I bought a pair from Harbor Freight for a couple dollars. You pay any more than that you gettin took.
I hit a deer in my brand new truck in 2014 and installed them. I have not seen a deer since around the road but then again I had not hit a deer in the 40 prior yrs of driving either. I bought them on recommendation from a guy who hit a deer like 4 times and he swore by them after that.

Three deer have hit me. Every time the damage was on the drivers side from the front fender and back. A big bumper wouldn't have done a thing to prevent any damage.
