Houses handle this all the time up north. Not like they intentionally build them weaker here.

He's talking about a patio cover.

I have one as well and will be watching for build up and shovel some off if it gets too much.

fall in the 6-8” range. I have a low graded metal carport and patio so I’m keeping my rock rake and ladder handy in case I need to start pushing snow off the roof. I’m worried about all the weight. Just a thought.

I have a bbq shed that’s 18*24 with 4x4 post and slight lean with tin roof. I’m going to use my gas blower handy and ladder to blow it off. I thought about also firing up the smoker and bbq pit to heat up the roof.

anyone with a metal roof patio cover that isn't significantly braced needs to be cautious on knocking off accumulated snow

especially with wetter snow

What are “high resolution” models?

Where’s the GRRR that was dumping a foot of snow or whatever is that Hi Res?

I also have a metal patio cover with a very small slope. I have a 20’ squeegee that I’m going to try to use to scrape off as much as I can. Good idea about using the grill to heat up underneath

For what it’s worth all 3 of my weather apps are aligned on 5 to 7 for the Calcasieu Baws.

I'm not understanding on how it wont snow in Texas and the Dallas area but it will snow in south Louisiana very heavily.

Not sure how old it was but the snow in 2017 caused the patio cover at my old office to collapse

How do you mean be cautious?

What specifically?

No, but building codes are different.

Our roofs are supported and anchored so they don't blow away.

Up north supports are closer together to support weight.

I don't think roofs will collapse except lean-to patios, sheds, etc. FWIW

If I’m prognosticating correctly, looks like early hours Thursday and Friday we can expect icy roads (if we get any icy roads from this). I’m talking about I-10 corridor.

I think the majority wants to experience a significant accumulation. One inch shuts down the city anyway. Might as well get more.
