I got it from here, and they updated it to -6. Still crazy but maybe we won't all die.

According to your map, it would mean negative temperatures in Los Angeles and single digit temps in Miami if it were what you believe it to be.

It’s a deviation from the normal temperature range not actual temperatures.

Hopefully you’re just being facetious.

South Georgia getting up to 1.85" of ice would make every forest in the area look like a cat5 hurricane just went through. If that goofy prediction holds, and obviously it won't, I'd be filling up every gas can/bucket/container/trashbag I could for my generator. Power wouldn't be back for a month.

It certainly would make the line go faster

Every power line in the area would be down, many structures would have issues with the weight of that ice and the number of insurance claims from tree limbs hitting houses and cars would be biblical.

What do you mean biblical?

That would be the only way to describe it. I've only experienced 3/8" ice and had to listen to trees/limbs cracking all night. I didn't even ponder what would happen to structures. Steep roofs might fail. Low slope would likely fail.

The entire portion of the state that got 2” of ice would end up with trees and limbs breaking resulting in mass insurance claims.

“Disaster of biblical proportions”.

Watching the new models, 12Z EURO is showing significant ice through southern and central Louisiana. Before it was just rain.

It'll keep flip flopping until the weekend I know.

concern is more with rain, then a hard freeze causing a shutdown.

This happened in 2017/2018ish. It was super cold for several days and there was ice everywhere. I had 3 wrecks in front of my house in the span of 6ish hours. I think it was two full days below freezing?

I considered putting the snow chains on my truck and driving to my camp to enjoy the arctic suck, but I figured the risk of some idiot crashing into me was far too high so I didn't go.

Should be a fun travel week. I leave New Orleans at 530a on Monday to go to NC for a meeting. Who knows when I can make it back. Lovely!
