I don’t understand why the local New Orleans “meteorologists” are shitting all over this. They are scared to call for snow and keep pumping mix of rain and snow. The models say snow, it’s going to fricking snow!

over on stormcastforums right now Zack Fradella is confident winter storms happens but is trying to keep composure at the same time

Zack Fradella:

GFS streaking a foot of snow across LA is pretty incredible. I have a feeling this will be a blend of the EURO’s colder/not as wet and the GFS wetter with a warm nose. A blend might be really good for most of us.

We have a winter storm coming. If you want a guaranteed 12” of snow in a forecast 4 days out, you probably need to move north. Things will never be a slam dunk here, it comes down to the last few details at the final hour.

I pulling for you gulf coast baws to get some snow. Kind of relieved central arkansas is out of this one. We still have snow on the ground in shady areas from the last round. The foot of snow was fun...the muddy shat show that has followed is not.

A lot can change and forecasting winter weather in the south is difficult.

You know how when a hurricane is supposed to be a high end two and it hits as a low end three people flip out and are furious why a major wasn't forecasted? Even though the difference in wind speed was 5mph off?

Imagine a meteorologist saying 5" of snow and we get 1.5" of freezing rain and only an inch of snow. Ppl would go insane.

1.5" of freezing rain is a once in a lifetime event. You think that is "likely" to happen?

What does that mean for a weather novice?

They won’t bill you until afterwards.

You’ll have power outages worse than hurricanes. It will damage the power grid like a mofo. I know someone that lived in Tupelo in 94. He had 2” of freezing ran at his house. Didn’t get power back for 2 weeks.

We lived in Schlater, Ms during the 94 ice storm. It was awful, one kerosene heater and no way out for two weeks because trees and poles were down across the rural road we lived on. Heated pots of water on the propane grill in order to bathe
