All the Apps have changed timing for me in Calcasieu. Heaviest snow was supposed to start at 6 AM now it’s 2 AM

Sure it’s not volcanic ash?

College Station finally starting to get some sleet and a few flurries
That’s good news it’s that far North.

Can we get an expert to chime in on the timing of this thing? As of a few hours ago we weren’t supposed to get anything until about 3-4:00 AM. Now, TWC says snow possible in BR by 9:30
I second this.
Now that we see precip forming, do the people who understand weather have an opinion about what it means for reality versus the forecasts?

I thought the 18z GFS showed some snow as early as midnight.

Your hourly snow chance is likely increasing because of Virga. The atmosphere still needs some time to moisten in Baton Rouge

Temps here are still in the mid 30s. So the precip is nice and all, but still some work to be done.

NAM rolling in sharing the love with Ellic and SW MS, compared to prior runs
Bodes well for SELA with a massive precip shield sliding southeast, here ya go...

Meaning more snow or less?

I’d be interested in seeing that NAM run

wet snow accumulating in trees can cause some issues
Well yes but isn't this largely supposed to be powdery snow?
I expect there to be some outages but I wouldn't expect anything widespread like we experience with a hurricane or squall line.

Funny you should ask... it's coming in MUCH more than the previous run. 4" in Baton Rouge by 11:00am already. Previous run had less than 3" at the same time.
Edit: 6" for me by noon
Edit: 8" by 1:00
3rd Edit: 9" by 2:00
4th Edit: 10" by 3:00

For Alabama folks, the NAM looks to have the shield of expanded a bit further north tomorrow than previous runs. Interesting. Not a major shift, but a little one.
