The 12z GFS and Canadian are driving the coldest air straight down the middle of the country. It's a deep dip that digs way down, presumably the result of a solid ridge out west.

OK, Legend, I'm close to the 9 in the upper east TN 17.9 and our pets were still collecting ticks in mid November.
Our electric co-op decided half a decade ago to stop pre-emptive pruning of trees and forests near our power lines. We aren't a dense population so we don't get priority power restoration. Husband has already been out checking out dead trees that have dried this very dry fall, just in case we have need of additional firewood with a loss of electricity and certain propane appliances dependent thereon.
