Don't mean to ruin your white Christmas party...but the forecast for all of Southeast Louisiana on Christmas weekend (3 days) is a low of 34 in the evening. No white stuff. 21 degrees on the Thursday leading into Christmas weekend, but no precipitation that evening

What forecast?
The gfs show low to high 20s every night from Thursday- Monday and has been showing this for multiple runs and on the ensembles
It also shows the high barely above freezing Friday and Sat

The euro is 23-27 Thursday- Sat right now

Lol. That’s really all I have to say. You’re a retard. Not only do we not know if it will snow, it’s equally as dumb to say it won’t. Get the cold in place. That’s step número uno. Looks like we’ll have the cold, and extended cold- just need to keep watching. Equal parts chance a gulf low spins up and we get 5 inches of snow. Now buzz off before I get banned. I’ve been drinking

Love the weather savvy from yall.

And I certainly dont see anything getting me excited about snow in the deep south at this point. Odds remain low, as youd expect, for it happening at all.

But

Park a bunch of frigid air next to a pool of warm water and you get the main ingredient for an area of low pressure. The jet stream will obviously be parked nearby since you have such a bitchin' temperature gradient.

Which is why, like you say, we keep watching.

Question: Does an arctic air outbreak in December mean there's less frigid air available in January and February or nah?

Looks like the GFS partied too hard last night.

Latest run has nearly a foot of snow across south Louisiana on the 26th.

Don't look ahead to the 28th. It's probably not accurate. Just dream of a good Christmas and then, watch for the last week of the year in the southeast.

Holy smokes. Yeah, you've got to imagain those temps reflect a foot of snow and ice on the ground, which won't happen.

It might look pretty but would be a straight up disaster especially if it ends up icy

That run would mess up a nice week I have planned. Good thing it's over a week out.

I’ve been watching this all week because I’m leaving work on Thursday and not going back til the new year. Got some prep to do before I leave so my guys don’t get called out.

Yes it’s still out, but the model runs are consistent in the same direction. It’s not like one is snowpocalypse, the next is 72 and sunny.

I highly recommend you go get your winterization supplies for the house if you need them this weekend. I’d imagine come Wednesday those will be impossible to find if this trend continues. Stuff like pipe insulation and wrap.

Stupid question incoming

I can’t seem to figure out pivotal weather, how do y’all do the runs for specific areas? Trying to figure out if it’s the same for us Houston area baws

The cold is consistent but the moisture/timing not as much. The ingredients will be there though. Seems like it could be a scenario where there is a fine line between cold rain and built up ice.

Thankfully I have a new house with pex plumbing so don't have to worry too much about freezing.
