I have been living in Old Mandeville for a year and honestly have not been to Slidell except to get gas or to cross the bridge. Before that, I have not been to Slidell since 2000ish. What's there to do?

Cool downtown?
Great restaurants?
Any cool attractions other than swamp tours?

Thanks!

Man, that’s a lengthy day trip. Make sure to pack a snack.

If I were to plan a day trip anywhere, I would never have even thought to select Slidell as my destination.

ETA: Scuttlebutt, as the poster above me suggested.

There used to be a good seafood restaurant on Hwy 11 just north of the bridge. Not sure if that is in Slidell.

If serious, maybe hit Cote then a beer at Brass Monkey.

Get back to Mandeville before the street lights come on.

There is nothing. Dont bother.

I wish West St. Tammany would break away just west of Lacombe and become its own parish.

Don’t tell anyone but there are a couple of stretches of beach with Destin quality sand on Debbie Drive off of Carr Dr. I should have asked if you’ve ever been to Destin first.

There used to be a local chain of poboy places with one on Old Spanish Trail. They take would use a Mardi Gras parade cup and scoop 3 cups of shrimp on your poboy. Katrina might have wiped it out.
