My daughter was in a wreck, guy was doing nearly 70 in a 35 MPH. She pulled out, he nailed her in her door. She wasn’t ticketed, everyone went to hospital, my daughter in an ambulance. He was checked out, walked to my wife and son in the E-room and said he was fine. Sued us for 500k.

Your problem there is that the other guy had the right of way, your daughter had the duty to yield and you probably can’t prove how fast he was going.

’ve had plenty of cases where someone is discharged within hours at an ER and still manage to incur six figures of Plaintiff’s doctor meds.

it’s crazy how the insurance limits is what they are shooting for. Has zero to do with the ‘victim’ being being made whole or compensated fairly. It’s always a ‘what’s the limits and let’s start running shite up to hit those limits’ since at that point they have the insurance company by the balls. fricking it’s fricking sad is it?
PI attorneys lovvve limits being raised because that’s easy money.
One Attorney group that I see on my FB feed, and he has been posting about settling for the policy limit in cases as though they won the lottery in each post.

“Secondly, 99.9999999999% chance the other lawyer will ask for whatever your limits are and that’s it.“
This x 1000.
My young son had a “barely bump” rear ender in the rain. It strung out for a year for us. In the end all they took was the minimum.
It’s a disease in Louisiana “I’ve been hit and always need all the money”
Another wrong list for Louisiana to be at the Top of.
Most expensive car insurance in the nation !

How old is your daughter and if over 18 is she willing to pay this dude in the more historically conventional currency for debts like this?

I used to recommend liability coverage by asking people “what’s 3 times your household income just in case you sneeze and hit a school bus”
In Baton Rouge that usually only led to 100/300/100 at best.

If he hit a side door then she really pulled out right in front of him
If he had hit her rear bumper then maybe you could blame his speed
