Florida health officials have identified a troubling trend; approximately 31 percent, or one-third, of children in Florida tested for COVID-19 yield positive results, according to the Sun Sentinel.
State data indicates that out of 54,022 Florida children tested, 31.1 percent have returned positive results on average. This is higher than the statewide positivity rate, which reads in at about 11 percent.
Aside from the staggering figure indicating the transmission of the virus, health experts fear it can cause potential lifelong damage in children. Alina Alonso, the health department director of Palm Beach County, reportedly told county commissioners on Tuesday that the long-term consequences of coronavirus in children are unknown.

Isn't that stating the obvious just to scare people even more?

Yeah it’s like saying “people have DIED from this virus!”
The people downvoting me must love blatant media scare tactics

No idea if this is true but I am sure the media and politicians will run with it

This is the fear tactic they are looking for to keep us at home. Keep the kids out of school and parents have to stay home. It becomes like March all over again

Here we go...phase 1 on its way

This is true, but I think it’s a valid statement to make as all the good ole boys I know stand by the “this isn’t even as bad as the cold” train of thought.

Someone started a pretty good thread on here yesterday about the Florida numbers. They showed articles from about a month apart and it made the data that is being reported seem pretty dubious because it meant like 70% of kids tested in the last months were positive

How can anyone believe any numbers out of Florida

So the children in Florida are being affected differently than those in literally every other part of the world? Got it.
Sorry, but not trusting any data of any kind out of Florida after hearing of all the BS going on there.

Only 31%...that's weak sauce... where is the 100% at?

Is this a German report on Florida? Been discussed multiple times already OP.
31%? Think about that. So adults have a 7-10% positive rate and kids are 3-5 times higher? Testing is laughable at this point.

I really do not trust ANY data out of Florida given their false reporting to date. Especially data that is the opposite of the rest of the country.
The firmest data point we have is leads than 200 people under 18 have had deaths attributed to Covid-19. I say attributed to because they could have died in a motorcycle wreck but tested positive for CV-19 antibodies post mortum.

Kids have sniffles and pass that shite around to each other at school all the time. And those sniffles are most likely due to a corona virus, not the COVID 19 one. There is cross reactivity between COVID and types of common cold viruses which are all from the corona type.

approximately 31 percent, or one-third
That’s great news. Higher percent infected and almost all asymptomatic.
