Isn't Covid just another Coronavirus which includes the common cold.

Yes and no..

Yes this cornoavirus is similar to the virus that causes the common cold, but that's a human cornoavirus.

This one is a novel coronavirus, that is, originated from animals and new, which doesn't cause the common cold but causes COVID-19, a disease much, much worse than the cold and deadly, damaging the lungs significantly, and in some cases permanently

Do not put so much stock in that 31% number.

We can't keep humans from getting sick.

Does anyone realize this?

Flu, RSV, Corona, hand foot and mouth.....there is an endless list of shite that makes kids and adults sick.

Are we seeking to end illness? Is that the goal?

That’s great news. Higher percent infected and almost all asymptomatic.

This is what I am thinking.

How low does that put the IFR if 40% of the population has been infected with such low numbers?

shite is less dangerous than chicken poxs.

Wife works at a children’s hospital here in Florida. They’ve received almost no kids with COVID-19. Most of their revenue is from elective surgeries or treatment of diseases, which they shut down for a while and now many at the hospital are bored out of their minds.

There was a huge push that kids "weren't good vectors" of spreading this or contracting it, leading this huge push of opening back up schools nationally.

They aren’t. They do not spread it to adults at any meaningful rate. Nobody I’ve seen ever argued they don’t get it. They also very, very rarely get it with any type of seriousness. It is not a virus that has severe symptoms for kids.

But I'm just not as sure, there's not many businesses or organizations that have opened that are similar to schools, that is people literally on top of each other in crowded buses and classrooms.

Again, and? The flu is a magnitude more deadly for under 18 year olds than this is. If anyone supports shutting schools down now, but doesn’t support shutting it down November thru march every year, they are a hack.

You’ve found enough examples of kids passing it to adults or even to other kids? Please contact the WHO and CDC because you have data they do not.

If Covid causes serious lung damage I guess we'll see during NBA.

All the COVID guys will struggle to make it up and down the court.

Isn't it over 20 fold less?
So more than 1 order of magnitude!

Students don’t spread it in Germany
quote:

A study of 2,000 children and teachers at a school in the German state of Saxony has found very few coronavirus antibodies among them, suggesting that schools and young people do not play as big a role in transmission as previously feared.
The study was carried out in May by the Medical Faculty of the TU Dresden and University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus and the results of the first test phase were released Monday.
The results showed that out of 2,045 blood samples collected from students and teachers from across 13 secondary schools in the region only 12 samples were found to contain antibodies against Covid-19.

And this was back in May when Germany wasn’t doing so hot.

They get it — reportedly they just don’t transmit it.

Shhhhhh. Don’t show that.

We know the risk to children is minimal. Make accommodations for at risk kids as needed. Make accommodations for teachers over 70 or at risk with other conditions. Don’t shut down schools for an infinitesimal amount of people.

31%? Think about that. So adults have a 7-10% positive rate and kids are 3-5 times higher? Testing is laughable at this point.

I’d venture to say most parents aren’t having swabs jammed into their child’s brain on a whim. Higher percentage positive tested is to be expected in children IMO.
