One thing that pisses me off to no end is "innocent on charge 1, but guilty on lesser charges". All that does is give the prosecution ample opportunity to get him on something when their original charge was in fact overcharged to begin with.
Overcharging is a travesty and the jury should not be able to convict on a "lesser crime" if the defendant wasn't charged with that.

Whats sad is this happens every day damn in this country. For the most part any charge you can think of gets this treatment.
Is disgusting IMO

My lawyer friend says this is a scummy tactic from prosecutors to make the jury feel "more comfortable" with agreeing on a lesser charge because they couldn't agree on the more severe one. Basically offer high and negotiate down.

I hope this backfires and whoever may think he's not guilty sticks with it.

X link of audio clip: Mayor Eric Adams said Penny did what New York City "should have done as a city."

WTF is this jury struggling? This is disgusting. He didn’t do anything wrong.
He subdued a dangerous man who previously punched an elderly lady in a subway. That man was threatening and looking to hurt people. Penny didn’t seek this out. He doesn’t deserve this.
How in the world could they even be in a deadlock?

70 million people voted for Kamala.

I would never cave. Someone in the jury needs to stand for what is right. Penny doesn’t deserve any of this.

here's a brief look at some of the donations Dafna Yoran, Lead Prosecutor, has made over the last few years. Donor List
definitely a fair trial.

Dafna Yoran brags about reducing felony murder charge to (manslaughter) because she "felt sorry for the past trauma" that the armed robber had endured.
but Daniel Penny deserves the death penalty according to her..

Funny, his loving family apparently didn't have much to do with him before he got himself killed.

Exactly. They're just looking for a bag

+1
In fact, if I was the holdout on the jury, the dismissal of the more serious charge would only embolden me. Clearly the prosecution isn't confident in their own case so why should I be?
