Daily millennial bash. Half would consider quitting if told to return to office.

It’s still early to say how the post-pandemic work environment will look. Only about 28% of U.S. office workers are back at their buildings, according to an index of 10 metro areas compiled by security company Kastle Systems. Many employers are still being lenient with policies as the virus lingers, vaccinations continue to roll out and childcare situations remain erratic.
But as office returns accelerate, some employees may want different options. A May survey of 1,000 U.S. adults showed that 39% would consider quitting if their employers weren’t flexible about remote work. The generational difference is clear: Among millennials and Gen Z, that figure was 49%, according to the poll by Morning Consult on behalf of Bloomberg News.

I'll never work in an office full time again.
I have marketable skills, and won't ever hurt for a job.
Sorry bout it
"frick them damn millenials not wanting to commute an hour each way to sit in front of a computer, just like they could at home!!! How else am I supposed to micro manage them and have a pointless conversation about the weather?!"

If they get another job that allows them to work from home, I don't really have a problem with it.

Well, to be fair, they are probably already thinking of quitting already.

Probably more because they realize how shitty of a job it is to begin with.

Given an equal role elsewhere why would you want to be onsite full time?
It will be a competitive advantage for attracting and retaining talent moving forward for firms who are remote, period.

Boomers started the drug war. Millennials are ending it.

why would we bash people for using their marketability to find a better job that suites their lifestyle?

Nah man. This is anyone with a marketable skill in a world that has seen hard evidence that WFH works just fine.
This is hardly a millennial sentiment. 50 yr olds who are damned productive at their home office are not going to give up the quality of life afforded by it.
If your company is forcing everyone back in the office, there are two others who aren't.

I don't see an issue here if the employee has options.

Why bash anyone who wants to lower operating expenses for their employer by working from home?

Most companies I’ve talked to seem to be moving toward a hybrid model of 2-3 days in office.

I hate working remote. I want to be around people.
Having to train/coach my employees over Zoom is like pulling teeth, especially when there are technical difficulties. I like to be more hands on.

As long as productivity is the same as being in the office, I don't have a problem with it. My problem is when a team effort is throttled because someone working from home won't or can't be accessible during normal work hours.
