This is a great example of people spinning facts or outright lying to make their argument a winner.
She had a terrible life and never had a real chance but she murdered that man.
Killed her captor, he bought her, he was a pedophile etc. Spin. Her captor was her pimp who she ran back to with the victims money and belongings.

have no problem with the system determining that 15 years for killing the customer of your violent pimp is enough.
The parole board met in May 2018. It was a split decision.
Two members vote to recommend that the governor grant clemency, allowing for her release from prison. Two vote to recommend that Haslam deny her clemency bid, meaning she would continue to serve a life sentence. Two others recommend the governor reduce Brown's sentence so she could be released after 25 years.
14 years plus 50 hours of community service seems wrong for murdering someone sleeping. I could probably go along with the 25 years.

But I do have a problem with the communities promoting her release (celebs and "Women's March") because they're willing to blatantly lie to sell a narrative, even if the objective is just.
I agree with this and this is the part that seems wrong. If Bill Haslam wanted to do this he could have done it last year. Why wait until days before the end of his term?
This is nothing but political posturing. Expect to see Bill on a ballot somewhere else soon. I'm sure these same people cheering him today will be happy to call him a "rich old white guy" soon enough.

I think the length of her sentence was extreme, but they played the race/gender/victim card to hell and back. There was so much false information spread about this case to get sympathy under false pretenses.
If aged killed her pimp I wouldn't have thought twice about clearing her if charges. But, she lied about her age and went home with a guy, she said they didnt have sex, shot him in the back of the head while he was asleep, robbed him and then went back to her pimp. That's murder.
There are so many people that are under the impression that she killed her pimp because that's what has been spread and few people are willing to actually do the research. Did she deserve a life sentence given her age and situation? Probably not. Did she deserve to go to prison for murder? Abso-fricking-lutely.

Murder of Johnny Allen
On the night of August 6, 2004, Brown, then 16-years-old, met Johnny Mitchell Allen, a 43-year-old real estate broker and United States Army veteran, in the parking lot of a Sonic Drive-In on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville, Tennessee, a known red-light district.[7] Brown agreed to have sex with Allen for the price of US$150; the two ordered dinner and Allen drove the two of them to his home on Mossdale Road.[8] At some point during the evening while Allen was sleeping, Brown shot Allen in the back of the head with a .40-caliber handgun she carried on her person and stole from Allen's residence US$172 in cash, several firearms, and a vehicle, a Ford F150.[9][10] She then drove Allen's vehicle to InTowne Suites, to meet her pimp.
Look into it. Thls girl shouldn’t have received life in prison.
Someone here said to pity Johnny Allen. Johnny Allen should not have picked up a 16 year old prostitute from Sonic.

I think I would have trouble getting restful sleep with a hooker that I picked up at a Sonic parking lot roaming around my house.

Imagine being a 16-year old, homeless, drug addicted runaway who had been used by that John all night, god-knows-how. The child broke. She deserves a chance at a normal life.
The lack of empathy and hypocrisy in this thread is sad.

A. Not condoning picking up a prostitute but the guy didn't know she was 16. Pretty sure it's been reported that she told him she was 18.
B. I've read something about they didn't even have sex.
C. She robbed him. After killing him in his sleep. That does not speak to "breaking after being used all night god knows how". Killing him during one of the depraved acts you speculate he may have done to her would speak to her breaking.
D. She's a murderer. What hypocrisy are speaking to in this thread?
And in another post you said we shouldn't pity a man for being murdered because he wanted to pay for sex? But you're white knighting for the murderer? And you call other posters hypocrites? Can't make this shite up.

Good. She deserves an award for it, not fifty plus years. Insane.

She didn't kill her pimp. The amount of posters here that can't read is disturbing. Unless you're arguing that she deserves an award for murdering a customer in his sleep and robbing him. I'm not for prostitution but that doesn't seem award worthy regardless of your stance on men paying for sex with women.

She lied about her age to a guy and murdered him in his sleep. She deserved prison. It wasn't her pimp she killed. It was a client of hers.

And another one. This is getting pathetically absurd. She killed a client. Not the pimp. Damn people.

You think the penalty for soliciting a prostitute should be death?

Interesting that the lead detective on the case wrote a letter to the governor opposing clemency. For what it's worth.

The lead detective in the Cyntoia Brown case has written a letter to Governor Bill Haslam, urging him not to grant her clemency. In the letter obtained by NewsChannel 5, Metro Detective Charles Robinson claims there are a lot of inconsistencies with Brown's story. "First and foremost, Cyntoia Brown did not commit this murder because she was a child sex slave as her advocates would like you to believe. Cyntoia Brown's motive for murdering Johnny Allen in his sleep was robbery,” Detective Robinson wrote.

It's not just on here. It's A LOT of people everywhere. People are basing their opinion off of the Facebook posts that were going around saying she killed her pimp in self defense. It wasn't self defense. It was cold blooded murder. If she had killed her pimp I probably wouldn't care. I dont agree with prostitution, but in no way does it deserve a death sentence. And you can't use her age as an excuse because he didnt know she was 16. She admitted to lying about her age.
