You would think so, but then again, look at your average Progressive voter in America. This is exactly something they would champion.

Nothing surprises me anymore. Babylon Bee articles become reality daily in this country.

And this is why no one will receive 2 complimentary cookies anymore from that bakery.

I read the original twitter thread on this a few days ago when it was posted. No one was actually making that argument, but a few people posted that argument as a "devil's advocate" just trying to figure out this person's logic.

twitter argument says that if the baker is able to give 2 free cookies to a customer in addition to the normal order, the normal order was overpriced and that the customer is entitled to a refund of the 2 additional free cookies.

Did the customer actually say the cookies were over priced, or did you just add that part in?

I would have said that refunds are normally not processed without receiving the product back, but we'll make an exception one time for you....refund processed. Then when the bitch comes back saying they didn't receive any money....yes, that was the amount of the refund for the two free cookies in full.

This reminds me of a long time employee I had. For example, let’s say she worked on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week. If a holiday fell on a Tuesday or a Thursday, the employees who normally worked on that day would get paid for the holoday. This employee wanted to be paid for that “paid holiday”. Well... no - you don’t get paid for the Thursday holiday because you do not work here on Thursdays. It became a major ordeal with her.

I don’t believe in it most of the time. But that is some entitled, white suburban woman privileged BS if I’ve ever seen it.

Bitchin’ cause you got extra cookies for free???

If you're too poor to buy the cookies, just say so, twitter.

Owner is right. Customer can go elsewhere, or open their own bakery and make their own rules. This is not a third world open market where you haggle for what you want. If you don’t like it, go to another baker. Who are we actually talking to these days, kids or adults? How can you possibly reason with such nonsensical stupidity?

Who establishes what the cost of the cookies should be to refund? The customer?

People establish profit margins based on the GP they need to make for products sold. The only thing worse than this is when people like to play personal chef at restaurants and create their own menu item without one iota of a clue as to what goes into factoring in cost and sell or margin needed to maintain profitability.

Not with the free cookies it's not overpriced anymore. And everything sold MUST be overpriced or there is no profit. She agreed to the price and amount of cookies. Deal is done. Also, she got two more. She's welcome.

Lisa is right. A refund is a re funding of money that was paid out. There was no money paid out. So there is no money to be funded back.

That shitty logic doesn’t account for a whole variety of variables as to why a baker may give a free sample.

Maybe they’re testing a new flavor and want to see how folks respond.

Maybe they ended up with an excess of product due to a catering cancellation.

Maybe it was day olds they can’t sell at this point and are giving away.

I’d actually argue the bakery is doing a fine job of reducing food waste.
