I unexpectedly got a pretty nice gift from my GFs sister for a belated Christmas. It’s a great gift and I’m glad she gave it to me (one of the ken Burns blu ray sets which can be a little pricey) but the first thought once I opened it was being frustrated that I now need to get her an equally thoughtful and pricey gift when for years we had gotten each other nothing and I never had to worry about it

Somehow it just made me think that would be how Larry would react to that in curb.

Larry David would also ponder where sex with her fits into the equation

Sounds like the obvious answer to his dilemma is giving her the D.

It will only be a true Curb moment when you tell her that to her face, get into a big argument about it, then refuse to return the gift to her, ultimately leading to your breakup and you enjoying the shite out of the videos all alone.

I get this every year with my wife's family. They go all out for the holidays...spending hundreds on each other. My fam spends 10-20 on each other because we are all cheap bastards. I get frustrated when my FIL gives me a 300 dollar fly rod when I bought him a meat thermometer. Awkward as all get out.

It’s a trap. Your girlfriend is testing you to see if you’ll bang her sister or not. Tread lightly

Yep. Been down this road and have had the same thought before. A little like when Bania gives Jerry an Armani suit and wants a dinner in return. Your sister didn't just give you a nice gift. She gave you an obligation to reciprocate.

I had this battle with my wife. For the first several years of our marriage we gave each other nice, but not overly expensive Christmas gifts. Last year she surprises me by telling me she planned on getting me a very expensive gift (she ultimately didn't because the item was not in stock anywhere and there was no time table for it being re-supplied).

So this year I was going to one-up her and get her something (out of the ordinary) expensive figuring she wasn't going to go down the same path she did last year. That way I would have the upper-hand and she would be obligated to reciprocate. WRONG!!! She outspent me...by a lot. Now the obligation in this arms race is very much in my court

Larry would regift to a friend. That friend would die and at the wake, your GF and sister would see it and comment how popular it must be to people. Just then, the widow would hug Larry and thank him for giving friend the nice gift. It was the only thing that got him through the Covid quarantine alone.

Sister and Larry argue and he is thrown out of the house.
