that team officials met and decided it was more likely the gesture was used in a “racist way.”

Some people are guessing social media, but the press release says they never made contact with the fan and just sent him a letter, so who knows.

They found out he was white.

Easy: twitter outrage by blue checks of self-proclaimed "activists" and the need to deflect bad PR after they brought back a domestic abuser.
The icing on the cake is Theo Epstein's comments regarding this. He sure doesn't mind that paycheck signed by Joe Ricketts. He didn't have anything to say about his emails that leaked earlier this year. The only response was from Tom Rickets saying his father has nothing to do with the team. Hard to believe that a man who spent a billion dollars on a sports franchise has no say what so ever.
Yeah, I know, they're my favorite team but I'm not defending this. Jeez, what a shite show.

Has the dude's name even been made public? Or is it the Cubs saying his social media was "not good"?
Radio and beat writers are deducing social media based on the Cubs reasoning and the "investigation"

So the Cubs conduct an "investigation" and say it was a racist gesture, but offer no proof of said racism.
So of course the media just assumes he's racist and that he probably has racist social media. Again, without any evidence.
'Murica.

Says they didn't ever get in contact with the guy, so they just sent him a letter saying he was banned. Basically their investigation was just figuring out who he is and banning him.
It seems like they opened a huge can of worms. I hope half the crowd makes random hand gestures.

But it does not give Epstein shivers to promote a wife beater to the majors and let him start at second base on the same exact day
Clay Travis was flogging the Cubs over that shite this morning.

Yeah, I just saw this in response to one of his tweets:
Well shite, Theo, looks like you'll have to release Strop.

This seems absolutely asinine.

Do you REALLY believe that BS line?
Come on, son.....
They didn't learn anything to justify their actions, they just wanted to virtue signal and it's easier to placate an idiotic Twitter Mob that doesn't give a zhit about baseball by banning a guy who DOES love baseball....

He knew what he was doing, in the front row in the camera shot, with Doug Glanville there.
You can do that in row 24, but the Cubs have to guard their image.
Plot twist: it was Steve Bartman

Are you saying that blacks don't know what the goddamn circle game is?

I think it's far more likely he did the circle game on tv so he could go back and punch his buddies later.
