I hate to hijack, but are rest days necessary, or is overtraining a myth?

Rest days and rest WEEKS are necessary. Doesn't mean sit on your arse by the way, just lower the load/work for that day or week. Oh, and sitting on your arse a day a week is normal.
You will not meet a real track and field athlete or real Olympic Weightlifter who does not do either.
Training cycles require them.

And you realize joining a CF gym is essentially like working with a personal trainer? They program workouts, they teach form, some even handle nutrition.
There are good ones and bad ones. Just like at your other normal gyms.
Yes, you should screen them.
and heres the catch
its cheaper than joining a regular gym and getting a personal trainer 3 times a week.

It's for people who have to pay for friends and workout partners. I can read, have internet access and friends so I don't sign up.
Yes it is cultish, although probably varies group by group.

What's a metcon?
metabolic conditioning (i.e., cardiovascular conditioning or "aerobic" conditioning).
Sooo, cardio?
This is why people hate on the crossfit cult members so much. It's a bunch of bullshite that's been done for years and now rebranded with this ridiculous lingo to make it sound special. Weak minded people generally fall for these schemes.
Is it good people are working out either way, definitely. This doesn't mean they aren't annoy as hell though.

My lifting sessions were about 90 min 5-6 days per week and adding any legit cardio would push it to 2 hours.
So why not cut your lifting sessions down by 30-45 mins and supplement the rest of your workout with cardio?
Posted on 3/25/15 at 7:07 am to 504Voodoo
...because I've always done bodybuilding/powerlifting regimes.
The best time for cardio is as soon as you wake up, and I've walways hated getting up early for workouts, even in my military days.

Metcon or metabolic conditioning was a term used before crossfit.
I'm sure many coaches like Peter Boyle Juan Carlos Santana have used this term before crossfit

You notice they also fall for fad diets too. Not terribly bright, you'd think he'd know that lifting weights conditions the metabolism too but with the added benefit of raising your base metabolism 24/7.

Honestly, all crossfit talk aside, you just sound like a miserable person.
Im a very happy person actually that just sees things for what they are. Thanks for proving what I say is true because you result to personal attacks instead of staying on topic. Others in this thread have agreed with the exact points I bring up about cultfit. The only people that don't, want give reasons just go straight in attack mode. It's hilarious. Truly, but I'm the miserable one. OK
