Just so everyone knows, /r/nosleep are almost always fictional stories. The name comes from the idea that reading this right before bed means you aren't going to get any sleep.

Lived on Frenchtown Rd throughout my teens and have been to this spot countless times during the day and night. A bunch of bored mofos that couldn't think of any other BS to come up with started this crap and you buffoons create threads about it

Yep. I've heard everything from satanists to drug dealers to klansmen to death cult members supposedly being out there. It's a bunch of trees and people with imaginations.

I've lived out here for 38 years, nothing back there creepy. The witches who live back there are healing wiccans, and claim they heal people. kinda like jimmy swaggart use to do, but they circle fire. I know one of them.

Drove back there one night (circa 1987/1988)for kicks, after hearing the rumors. We didn't get out on foot, but at the house at the end of the dirt road, past the railroad trestle, there were 3 or 4 adults in robes - think KKK style red and white robes with hoods on. They were standing around a fire conducting what looked like an animal sacrifice - there was a table next to the fire with what looked like cats or maybe rabbits on it. It was dark, so hard to tell for sure, but they stopped what they were doing and started quickly walking towards my car and yelling at us. That's when I slammed on the brakes, did a hard turn in reverse (tight quarters back there) and got out of there as quick as we could.

that's amazing

you may have just posted the first verified occult satanic experience in the history of the US

It's no Mchugh Road in Zachary. That's where the real Satanism takes place.

Used to drive friends back there for fun while playing Skinny Puppy on the cd player. Usually enough to get them freaked out pretty well.

Tell the Reddit guy there are far scarier places off of GSP (think closer to Airline HWy) to go hiking. Tell him to drag his girl friend thru Lanier or Donaldson street if he really wants to get ideas for a horror story.

I know you meant this sarcastically, but I know what I saw. Had 3 others in the car with me that night. As far as who they were sacrificing to, I couldn't say, as I didn't stick around for the conversation. If that is what they were doing, you can't be naive enough to think it would be the first occurrence in the US.

Speaking of... there was a house on Greenwell Street (off Joor) always rumored to be a Satanic compound, as well.

I grew up on Frenchtown Road and have been back there many times. Nothing weird back there. I'm pretty sure they made those stories to keep the teenagers from walking back to the river to party.

Part of the creepiness factor was the fact that at the point you had to make the decision to turn around or keep going. After that, it was next to impossible to turn back.

Those urban legends really didn't get started until KISS and Ozzy became popular.

If I was really brave I'd roll the windows down and turn the truck off under the bridge
