Funny - but that was Cambodia. Speaking of countries not worth recognizing - that was one for sure.

quote:
Does the US recognize the (former) military junta/ex-military that still basically control the government? That could be why you hear it referred to as Burma.
The State Department calls it Burma officially I believe.
It's like how ISIS is referred to as the "self-proclaimed" Islamic State. It is a way to avoid giving it official recognition.
That may well be the reason.

Colonialism wasn't all bad. Zimbabwe, as run by Mugabe since late 80's is not a nice place.

Yeah. First world problem for sure. It just strikes me as weird to hear it as often as I do about a minor country. Just thought I'd share.

RANT [ON]
Is anyone else tired of hearing the talking head on TV or radio say the country of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. It has been 26 years and they are still saying this every time a news story covers something in Myanmar.
You don't hear Thailand, formerly known as Siam. Or Zimbabwe, formerly known as Rhodesia. It's just weird and annoying to hear it all the time.

I know you meant this sarcastically, but I know what I saw. Had 3 others in the car with me that night. As far as who they were sacrificing to, I couldn't say, as I didn't stick around for the conversation. If that is what they were doing, you can't be naive enough to think it would be the first occurrence in the US.

Drove back there one night (circa 1987/1988)for kicks, after hearing the rumors. We didn't get out on foot, but at the house at the end of the dirt road, past the railroad trestle, there were 3 or 4 adults in robes - think KKK style red and white robes with hoods on. They were standing around a fire conducting what looked like an animal sacrifice - there was a table next to the fire with what looked like cats or maybe rabbits on it. It was dark, so hard to tell for sure, but they stopped what they were doing and started quickly walking towards my car and yelling at us. That's when I slammed on the brakes, did a hard turn in reverse (tight quarters back there) and got out of there as quick as we could.
Never went back there at night again.
The big house before the shack is pretty creepy too. There is definitely some weird stuff back there.
True story and will testify on a stack of Bibles.

Yes it is true. CF offered to pay for the bridge if state would wait until expansion at CF is complete. Contracts were already signed, and the state said no thanks.

Migration of data is straightforward. For additional mailboxes - you can go the shared mailboxes route (I think) and that doesn't require a license.
re: Spinoff: How does one cop pull over multiple vehicles at a time?
Posted by danieltzedekah on 2/19/15 at 10:42 am to TDsngumbo
Several years ago - I was getting on I-110 by the BR airport and cop on a bike was setup on the loop for seat belt / inspection sticker check. He had like 4 people pulled over - he walked into the road and saw my inspection sticker was expired and pointed for me to pull over. I waved at him and kept on rolling.
Ain't nobody got time for that!!

Try Culebra, Puerto Rico. Very off the beaten path. No resorts - mostly villas and BnB. Very beautiful!!!!
Do a google image search on Flamenca beach. On my phone or I would post and share.

Not common knowledge, but an authorized biography on him is coming out in the next year or so. He sat down for hours of interviews for the upcoming book. First time he has tried to tell his story.
Miles talking past tense
Posted by danieltzedekah on 10/12/14 at 6:56 pm
Anyone notice Miles is doing a lot of past tense references in his post game and locker room talk?
Dangerous to read much into Miles' speech, but I noticed it watching the SEC network coverage.
Don't have any quotes but for example "I have been fortunate" rather than "I am fortunate" to lead these men and these teams.

I'd remove stable and free from this description. But other than that, it was a huge missed opportunity to move that area of the world in a positive direction.

True story. I was on a flight one time and the Estonia national women's soccer team was on there. I know that national athletes are the top of the genetic food chain and might not be representative of the rest of the nation, but they were amazing.
My wife picked me up from the airport and I had this goofy smile and dazed eyes, and she asked me what was wrong - then she saw the girls come streaming out and she just gave me the disapproving look. I kept smiling.
She still brings that up every now and then.
