Entertaining but the way it is written and went down - definitely fake.

Unless this guy just had a crazy experience that follows a very Hollywood-esque storyline.

Used to drive down that road sometimes in high school. Heard they have Klan meetings back there. Never saw any activity though, just a dark and creepy road

We just hiked there 2 weeks ago. It isn't scary but it is isolated. I didn't see this shack on the trails we went on. Good story though.

Creepy Shack off Frenchtown Rd

My friends and I went back there a few years ago after I read on here about local ghost stories and haunted locations.

We didn't see or hear anything, but that road is creepy as hell at night once you pass the railroad overpass. The road narrows down to essentially a single lane and the trees feel like they are going to engulf you with their low hanging branches.

Lived on Frenchtown Rd throughout my teens and have been to this spot countless times during the day and night. A bunch of bored mofos that couldn't think of any other BS to come up with started this crap and you buffoons create threads about it

Drove back there one night (circa 1987/1988)for kicks, after hearing the rumors. We didn't get out on foot, but at the house at the end of the dirt road, past the railroad trestle, there were 3 or 4 adults in robes - think KKK style red and white robes with hoods on. They were standing around a fire conducting what looked like an animal sacrifice - there was a table next to the fire with what looked like cats or maybe rabbits on it. It was dark, so hard to tell for sure, but they stopped what they were doing and started quickly walking towards my car and yelling at us. That's when I slammed on the brakes, did a hard turn in reverse (tight quarters back there) and got out of there as quick as we could.

Never went back there at night again.

The big house before the shack is pretty creepy too. There is definitely some weird stuff back there.

True story and will testify on a stack of Bibles.

Baton Rouge Urban Legends

quote:

Devil worshipers and Frenchtown Road

Today, the Frenchtown Road Conservation Area offers nearly 500 acres of quiet, bottomland hardwood forest, a peaceful stream and habitat for migratory birds. Many locals, however, have sworn it's also a hiding area for Satanic cults and and cloaked ne'er-do-wells.

"One story is that there is an old (lady) who killed 9 cats and hanged them from the train tracks," writes one commenter on an online forum for ghost stories.

"Unfortunately, it's not a very fun legend. It just doesn't have much basis to it."

As for devil worshippers, Nichols believes that part of the story comes from the area previously being used by hunters who left skinned rabbits and other animal body parts behind.

"Everyone thinks that's from high-schoolers trying to scare each other," she said.

The area is, Nichols notes, a former sacred territory for Louisiana's Native American population. Historically, the part of the land was used as a sugarcane plantation and some maps still show Indian mounds in which researchers have found some artifacts. There were also a few Civil War skirmishes fought across the Amite River from the property, but the urban legends and ghost stories didn't really exist until the 1970s.

"I wanted to find some cool story," Nichols said. "But there just wasn't any consistency.
