Nostalgia is my guess.

I only went to cracker barrel 2-3 times as a kid. As an adult I've been once and never gone back.

I think it's overpriced and sucks. It's edible breakfast, but I'd rather go to Waffle House if I'm looking at it from a value standpoint.

I've only been once and don't remember where. Somewhere between here and Frankfurt Ky., is all I remember. So what does that tell ya. Meh.

Family of 4 paid close to $50 with tip. You can barely get a meal for 4 at mcdonalds for that same price these days.

Nothing like pancakes and a mimosa for breakfast. Cracker Barrel in Columbia makes good mimosas.

It’s been a few years but last time I went, my breakfast was almost $20 after coffee, tax, and tip. I forget what I ordered. No breakfast is worth that much.

Waffle House you get a meal and entertainment.

True Story.

Hard to beat WH
+ Service is fast and consistent no matter where you eat
+ Breakfast 24 / 7 / 36 so 2nd and 3rd shift can get breakfast
+ No waiting for a table

A back up was the Senior breakfast at iHop but they got rid of it and raised the prices. Service can be spotty but the cooking is fairly consistent from location to location

It’s a solid and consistent and fun atmosphere road trip staple in my family.

Cracker Barrel is OK at best. I won't go there vs almost any other option.

Portland will eventually legalize cannibalism so the homeless drug addicts can eat themselves. That city is nuts and deserves this.

The company I work for has 100’s of locations and I was on the phone with a manager from our San Fran location on Market Street. The manager couldn’t go into the office to work with me because the can’t leave the store unattended for even a minute. the manager said when they do, the homeless immediately come in and steal as much product as they can hold. He said it’s happened multiple times, sometimes even when they are in the store floor.

I was also on the phone with the SF manager when a customer came in and complained about a homeless guy in front of the store pissing in the entranceway and accosting customers for money. The manager said it’s an everyday occurrence and they can’t get anything done about it by the PD.

Dude, what? $20 for a very filling breakfast and coffee at a sit down table with servers is absolutely worth $20

Portland crushed hundreds of businesses due to pandemic rules. History will not be kind to these cities.

Beaverton isn’t a bad area

Neither is Bend, which isn't near Portland. Cracker Barrel is shite and they likely never performed well enough and as corporate tightens their belt it makes financial sense to remove that area completely. There are none in WA, so they are trimming their logistic needs by removing low profit areas. Conflating Beaverton, Tualatin and especially Bend with Portland is nothing more than media propaganda.

I like their gift shop more than the food.

Portland is a favorite punching bag among some. We have close friends there and go every couple of years or so. It’s way safer than any southern big city, cleaner, and has one of the best park systems in the country. Great food and beer scene.
