I was in Highschool working on my 16th birthday when our family pet died

I promise you I was completely useless to everyone and no work the average person here does is more important than making sure you are mentally and emotionally stable day to day. Any adult also has to consider their "SO" or kids when a pet passes and being there to help everyone through their process.

too many Americans always go to work and never take care of themselves or the ones around them. you can never get your time back. Prioritizing yourself and your family unit should always come before any job you do.

I'm glad I have the type of job that I can take off whenever I want regardless of the reason as long as my three weeks of vacation arent used up

And if your dog dies and you arent all busted up you're a fricking monster

If he had a stomach bug he’d call in. Losing a good dog feels a whole lot worse than a stomach bug. Legit day off.

This is a dumb take. My dogs are far more important to me than my coworkers. Only slightly less important than my family. I have personal days. I have taken them when a pet died and will do so again.

The cat... eh... it could wait till I got home to be dealt with.

I don't intend this to be mean, but it's "losing" not "loosing". Just helping out a fellow OT'er!

If it’s garbage day you don’t even have to wait!

Kidding...

They can work the fry station or mow the grass for a few days in your absence.

They don't step in for my work. You must not work in corporate. I guess if you don't show up, the night shift has extra pressure.
