I wouldn't fire him or anything, but it would indicate to me that his priorities are messed up.

Americans venerate dogs because humans in this time and place are entitled, unnatural, and unreliable, and dogs seem not to be these things.

It is better to be disappointed in man than it is to confuse a dog with man, though.

No dude. Just fricking no. Your priorities are messed up if you think any person should sacrifice their mental health or any way they choose to spend their personal time in the name of going to work for a company that wouldn't bat an eye if he dropped dead tomorrow.

Eh...i wouldnt want to work at a place or for a person who doesnt know the true pain of having to make the choice to put to sleep your dog

oooh man. When I was a senior in high school I had to take my dog to the vet and put it down before school one morning. I could tell it was not well, but my parents refused to take him to the vet so I had to do it. That was a very hard day. That weekend I had to go out of town for a school trip. When I got back my parents had bought my younger brother a new dog. Didn't ask me, didn't warn me. That was a massive dump of salt on my still open wounds.

I love my dog more than most people, but that’s beside the point.

If the guy has PTO that he accrued and he wants to use it- then thats the end of the thread... Who the helll are you to be the arbiter of what is a ‘bull shite reason to miss work’?? I work for myself now so i only answer to my customers.. but back when i had to deal with bosses and PTO and all that crap, i used it for whatever I wanted.. i dont care if i was just tired and hungover from attending a Saints game the day before, i’ll use PTO for that.. or if i felt like going to see a movie on a weekday, hell- it’s my PTO so i’ll use it whenever and however i want.. if your company doesn’t send it that way, then find another job or start your own company .

Guess it depends on the job but sounds like a fricking terrible work culture if people are calling someone out like that

Your priorities are messed up if you think going to work matters more than a paycheck. We are a replacable.

I would absolutely give a dude a day off for a dog dying.

He is too brainwashed by the old head culture of putting work ahead of life to consider this

You can treat co workers or employees like objects that are a means to an end but the reality is they all have feelings and shite going on in their life like the rest of us. How productive is the guy going to be if he feels like he is unable to come into work? If he has sick or vacation day let the guy have a day to put his fricking dog in the ground. Being an a-hole about shite like that creates resentful employees

No one confuses dog with man. Humans develop.stronger bonds with dogs than the do most humans. If you dont get it, I feel a bit sorry for you.

frick off, in 9 out of 10 families a mans dog gives him more love and support then any of those rug rats or the wife, so yes a dog is right up there at the top as far as losing a family member.

I would take the day off too. And if you said shite about it to me, I'd beat your arse.

The only time I've cried as an adult is when I had to put my dog, which I had for 16 years, down.

It's how you pick out who has shitty sales middle management positions. People who deal with important shite don't mind if their employees take some leave if their heads aren't able to focus in a situation like this one.

I wouldn't do it, but I understand some need a little time to handle the process.

Hell, it is Christmas time, most of America is off for some reason or another.

We have an American Patriot Warrior Dog that just assisted taking down a terrorist. Had he died in the act he would have been given a proper burial and ceremony.

Dogs work too. My dog took care of me while i was spazzing out with a seizure. I'd take bereavement and if someone wrote me up, technically I have a disability. I would turn it into a big FU to HR and make them make special "accommodations" by allowing me an extra hour of sleep showing up to work an hour late every morning for an entire year. Don't fack with a man and his bond with his dog.

WTF is wrong with people.
