Probably because Post regulations prohibit troops from going off post to those establishments.
Well there goes the old "if you can't fight it, then *&%^ it".

Reminded me of this Ann Landers letter in today’s paper. This poor, dumb bastard.
Annie recommend he meet other women snd seek counseling. Pretty sound advice, actually.
quote:
Dear Annie: I am a 64-year-old truck driver from East Texas. I went to a gentlemen’s club and befriended a dancer there, “Renee,” and I have grown to love her dearly in my heart. I feel she is a good-hearted, loving, beautiful and special woman. She is a queen in my heart. She has a 3-year-old daughter, and I want to accept her in my heart as well. She needs to have a father figure in her life.
I have asked to take Renee and her family out to eat sometime to show her how much I love her. I have shown my love with gifts for her and her daughter. I have bought flowers, cards and teddy bears. Yet, Renee won’t return my calls, and she rarely responds to my texts. It hurts me deeply. I haven’t been eating or sleeping much.
I feel in my heart that she doesn’t really want to be in the job that she is now and that maybe I could take her away from that. She says I am different from other men who go there and that I have her heart. But she’s said that kind of thing only when in the club and drinking. I wonder whether it’s just the alcohol talking. I pray every day for her and her family to be OK. Will I ever be able to make her love me? -- Aching Heart in East Texas.

Holy shite that is sad. Imagine being through 64 years of life and still falling for a stripper.

Currently stationed at Ft. Polk, but in Africa at the moment. Pegasus wasn’t that bad when I went. Leesville overall isn’t too terrible IMO. Decent hunting and fishing. I’m from a small town in Arkansas so it reminds me of home.
Lies. Polk is terrible. You got the shittiest end of the Army shite stick

I always wonder what life would be like if you ran around these places your entire life instead of getting married. Just banging strippers and hard 4s every night, getting piss drunk, etc
Back in the day a man could make a career doing that. Uncle Sam didn't care what you did on your own time as long as you stayed (mostly) out of jail. Sadly, not so much any more.

It's odd too because DeRidder/Beauregard Parish used to be in the Guinness for most churches per capita. A 100% contrast just 20 minutes apart.
Half the people frequenting those bars drive up from deridder

Those who wish to forge a successful and long Army career as an active duty Soldier welcome duty at Ft. Polk, because, if you can excel at one of the more difficult jobs that the Army has to offer, you will help your own career. You spend most of your life performing your duties, so, Ft. Polk is good. If you have a spouse and children, Ft. Polk is good for you, because the schools are fairly good and there WAS (before C19) lots of extracurricular activities for kids.
If you are looking for a garden spot because your focus is on night-life and leisure activities and play that don't involve Outdoor Life, then you won't like being assigned to Ft. Polk.
It's that simple. Ft. Polk is a place where the Soldiers work long hours and spend lots of time in the field and on deployment.
But, if Ft. Polk ever closes, this area will be in BIG trouble, economically-speaking. Yikes, I shudder to think of it.

That all ain’t in Leesville. It’s New Llano. Loophole in the legal system in a Baptist dry ward paradise.

The US Military has gone full-blown Karen over this stupid shite. So glad I'm out now.
China has neutered the U.S. military too.

There are 2. Serendipity and last call weren’t titty joints. Not that I’d know...I avoid that stretch like the plague it is. Bikers and 21 year old military personnel aren’t my crowd.

It all went down hill, Billy Goat Hill that is, when Las Margaritas closed and Catfish Junction burned down.
I still deer hunt down there in Vernon Parish and haven’t been to that area South of town in years. New Llano got a chili’s, so that and a Walmart stop are about as far South as one needs to go.
