I bet those states without shelter in place orders are absolute dumpster fires!
Curious, how does Arkansas compare to states that do have stay at home orders? In Nebraska, the population center(s) are essentially under stay at home orders: no parks open, a few restaurants open for curbside, etc. But no official stay at home order.
Maybe it comes as this spreads to the interior, but I think our states made the right call in not going into shelter in place right away. No one would listen to shelter orders if shite hits the fan after we had been quarantining for a month with limited cases in the county

I'm assuming that was from January.

He really has no choice, politically. He has to move very cautiously in opening things up. One wrong move, and this thing starts quickly accelerating again, and he’s done for.

The reduce case numbers would not have happened without the mitigation.
There is zero science to support this. We don’t know without a study that includes a test sample where we don’t do anything and a control sample. But everyone is going to say Shelter at Home and Social Distancing works and we will be saddled with shut downs every time someone sneezes for quite some time.
ETA. Correct shite to shut. Pretty bad when my spell correct thinks shite is the correct spelling. I need to turn off that function where it learns from me.

Stones and glass houses:
RollTide1987 talking about deaths in America on 2/28.
To put it into situational context (because people are allowed to change their opinions with new data): more than 200 people died in Italy on that day alone.

This thing is so overblown and isn't even funny. People are losing their shite over a virus that has infected some 84,000 people since it first appeared in Wuhan back in December.

Less interaction with other humans, less chance the disease will spread human to human.

The reduce case numbers would not have happened without the mitigation.
The problem is that the initial numbers were overblown to the point where the reduction was due in large part to a correction of the models, not the measures taken.
The CDC’s own estimate of the actual impact of social distancing is a reduction between 20% and 30%.
We saw reductions as high as 90% in areas and consistently far higher than 30%.
The actual results of our social distancing measures are so beyond what is predictably possible that other stronger factors have to actually be in play.
