Really high infection rates and deaths per capita with very limited access to health care. Many on the Navajo reservation don't even have electricity. It's one of the most economically depressed areas of the country I've every seen (I would say the most), and I've traveled all over the country. It makes the slums of NOLA or St. Louis look like Disney world.
Maybe the Bureau of Indian Affairs needs an increase to their $2.4 billion budget to more properly help these ~300k Native Americans.
I am in no way saying that their lot in life does not suck, that I don't sympathize, or that they are incapable of succeeding in life. Just pointing out how Natives have been "helped" to oblivion.
But it is difficult for a people to recover from an actual Apocalypse.

It's ok to have threads like these about native americans, but if it's about blacks..god fricking forbid.

Tribal leadership for Native Americans are probably the most corrupt and incompetent organizations I’ve ever dealt with

Not every tribe is fortunate. Most arent.

Didn’t one tribe go to New York City for a convention and they all caught it and brought it back to their tribes?

Saw something in relation to this on tv either last night or night before. It was heartbreaking. Very heartbreaking.

I feel bad for the actual people and citizens, because many of them are good people deep down that I’ve met. Their leadership has failed them at every stop

That state tried to help them with this roll out, and they chose not to allow it.
This needs to be re-iterated.

Do you really think that's what he was saying?
Those that cry about the victim complex the loudest often play the victim as hard as anyone.
They'll tell other groups to stop being the victim then immediately jump on Facebook to tell everyone how there's a war against Christianity because of some fake article they read about the Pope being a Muslim. Or how those damn razor ads are a plot to destroy masculinity in America. Or how a white man can't even say the N word any more without being consider a racist.
If the opposite view points were put down by a different group, it would be considered a 'victim complex'. But if you agree with it, then all of a sudden it's a 'fact'.
TL;DR, America is full of easily offended soy boys from every end of the spectrum.

When my son was in Private Pre-K and Kindergarten (catholic school), they would do a weeks worth of collections of the Najavo every year. Day one would be clothing, day two school supplies, day 3 food, etc. We spent some time on the reservation one year so he could see why they were collecting for them.
Welp, you missed that joke.

A bunch of fat diabetics who don't trust the white man.
What could possibly go wrong.

Since Elizabeth Warren is Native American, so she said, maybe she can help them out.

more cash per month for survivors from that casino money.

the system of gov't is tribal not democratic. all the property in the reservation belongs to the collective not the individual. a two hour conversation with a tribal member described how this works. the member decides to renovate an irrigated farm and after 2 years has an operation that is competitive with off tribal lands. the third year the council decides he has done so well that his farm will be broken into 4 segments member retains one and the other three are distributed to needy tribal members. at the fourth year, no one can be found to work the farm and it closes
