Agreed that it is horrible but early on I have to defend the hospitals because no one knew what the hell was going on with this thing. I would have been devastated if that was me.

This is not the case (or was not the case) in all instances. There have been examples provided in this thread of hospitals enforcing policies the prohibit a father from being in the room during the birth.

Myself and most people I deal with are over this. We know and understand the risk of opening back up but willing to do so.

1. Ripped children out of schools
2. Forced children to miss sports, social activities, life events
3. Forced some people to die almost alone with no visitation in their last weeks

5. Prevented some fathers from the births of their children

I think for us it would depend on how far out in advance we knew. And I’m in a interesting circumstance because my wife does terribly with needles and blood, so it’s going to be very important that I be there to support/distract and that she also have professional medical staff helping her throughout. I’m not sure she’s the type to ever do a home delivery, i’d be afraid to ask.

I read an article that was about reopening schools. The article pointed out that the present COVID-19 mortality rate in the K-12 age group is extremely low. But when you apply that mortality rate to the high number of students that could potentially return to school, you could loose somewhere between 50K to 60K kids to the virus in the US alone. I tried finding the article to link it here but couldn't find it again. I don't know how true or accurate their numbers are, but if even close to accurate it's a pretty sobering thought.
