I thought you were talking about couples making a joint account where they combine their first names together, and set the birthday as the day they began dating, because the girl thought it would be cute and the guy is too whipped to say otherwise. I know a few couples like that.

A spouse is a partner in life. You do not “ become one” in marriage, nor should you aspire to. Your life is YOUR journey and belongs to you . It’s cool to share it with someone you love, but when you accept the illusion that you have merged into a couple that supersedes your individuality, you will cease to progress as a person.

Is there something wrong with her just putting her own name and not his? What's the difference?

Sometimes the woman runs the two names because she does not want certain people (like stalkers or exes) to find them easily in a search. That might look something like this: JoelynneBoudreaux or joeandlynneboudreaux. Legit reason.

I only know of a few on my facebook friends who do this. Hell even some of the women I know make fun of this kind of crap.

Probably some of them do it because their religious leader warned them that social media is the devil and will lead to one of them cheating.

Or some couples want to remove the temptation...note that I don’t do this or know anyone personally that does

I don’t and have never had any social media. My ol’ lady does. Just because she may have our picture on her site, does that mean it’s a joint account? I wouldn’t even know how to check it seeing how I’m not a woman.

Men don’t worry about this crap.

I have a few fb friends like that. A couple of cases are from the cheating issue I think (I haven't spoken to them in years and they are blocked because of the wives stupid posts).

I know one case in particular is because the husband doesn't spend anytime on the computer except for checking work e-mail once per day. He also refuses to get a smart phone and didn't even have a cell until his company gave him one so he could be on call. One of the happiest most secure guys I know...

Is that really a big deal? Just private your profile and add only people you know.

Well it’s odd when young people do it. But my parents have a shared account and it has nothing to do with trust issues.

They aren’t big into social media. They only have one email address that they both use. They just signed up mostly to keep in touch with family and their close friends.

It’s crazy how they often have no idea how stupid it makes them look. I mean very stupid. What’s even better is when you hear them try to explain it.

No way his company gave him a cell phone and it's not a smart phone.

I could not tell you what my wife has for a name on her accounts. The only time I even see an account is when she laughs at something, usually some video, and then I will sometimes watch it with her. Or occasionally she might purposely show me some pictures of someone or something.

We have one. Here's how it happened:

- we get married, I have a Facebook account, she doesn't

- she starts browsing my page all the time,I grow bored with it, so I suggest just making it a joint account... this was before a joint account implied all the dumb shite that's being posted here

- at some point I suggest just making it in her name, but since I still have a lot of family as friends, she didn't want to do that and a) confuse them, and b) delete all of them since she never met most of them.

So here we are. We never post photos or really anything on it ("here's what we did at the zoo today"). She uses it mainly for different pages she uses. Foster and adoption info/support pages, plus one of our kids has a medical condition and there's a really good page my wife frequents on that.

My only social media is Twitter, which is my own thing. It is what it is.
