WIth the amount of tickets that village probably writes they can afford cameras.
Before the highway expansion back when the speed limit jumped from 65 to 45 there absolutely, but since they bumped it to 55 and put in the stoplight I'm sure it's dropped immensely. Just like Dry Prong right up the road from there, back when it jumped from 65 to 35 they wrote tickets all day. Since they finished the highway expansion and staggered the speed 65-55-45 I can't tell you the last time I saw someone pulled over there.

They put a lot more people in danger with the reckless driving.

Again, no issue with it. My thing is simple, if the end result is simply tickets, why not write them at the hospital.
Because of this:

officer clocked them doing 108 in a 55. He got behind him, cut his lights and siren on. The vehicle then started passing people on the right and left shoulder
The driver made no attempt to slow down, he ran from the police for over 5 miles, and was passing cars on the shoulder of the road while doing so.
frick that guy. He could have killed someone because of his idiocy

Read the damn article. That dude was going to jail until the hospital called the cops and intervened on his behalf. The end result wasn't supposed to be tickets. The end result was intended to be a night in jail and standing tall before a judge.
He's lucky he just got tickets.

Maybe not, but if I see blood and my wife starts saying that she's worried about the baby's survival, you bet your arse I'm hitting the flashers and speeding like hell to the hospital.
ETA: I'm not getting in a high speed chase with cops though, that's never a good idea.

I feel like some people expect common sense where none will likely be granted.
I'd put this up there with the no tolerance nonsense principals enacting policy over common sense.
Is anyone really surprised this happened? Anything more you have way too high of expectations.

Because this would have sat well with a jury

I envision these people as the hysterical, low-IQ types who spend more time talking about drama on their cel phones than actually contributing anything to society. The fact that they're having a baby is further evidence of that. Go to any university hospital, and these types are popping out babies one after the other. Idiocracy

Are you saying the guy that led a 10 mile police chase in excess of 100 mph then threatened the officers is devoid of common sense? I get that you're anti-cop, but if you're saying the cops are the one's at fault here then the dipshit who got arrested isn't the only one lacking common sense.

This happened to my folks when they were delivering me. Not so much premature, but water breaking, fast labor, etc. Dad was flying through stop signs and a police car spotted him and pulled up next to him. My dad indicated to the cop what was going on by pointing at my Mom and the cop escorted my folks to the hospital...which is what I'd expect them to do.
I would have broken all the traffic laws when my second child was born, but it was bumper to bumper traffic at 5:30 on a Tuesday going from NE Houston to Sugarland the whole way as my wife screamed in agony the entire trip. It was brutal. My son was born almost as soon as we got to the hospital. I basically walked in (after having to get someone to come to watch our other son) and he came out.

Probably. I wouldnt have done that. My point is that trying to reason with then after calmly pulling over wouldnt have changed the outcome. Thats asking way too much of the average officer.

First, I wouldnt say I am anti-cop. More like I wish cops were better paid, trained, and had a better average IQ. Not much I can do about that. Also, most of my problems with LE have more to do with the power structure above them- mostly the DA and court system, again not much I can do about that.

Zak and Bridget Evans
If they had to go through Creola... that means they are from Grant Parish. The premature nature of this child likely has something to do with Methamphetamines. Grant Parish is crawling with meth-heads. Lets face it, this dude fits the profile!

Crashing at 108 mph would basically assure that baby's death and severe harm of not also death of both him and his wife

I'd convict that guy in a heartbeat. As has been said many times, if he gets in a wreck at over 100 mph, he likely kills himself and his family. If he hits someone head on with a closing speed of 160 mph, he kills two families.

I was in a similar situation once but I was told once that even ambulance drivers don't go 100mph so I went about 90 on the interstate and 70 on surface roads where I felt it was safe to do so. I never passed on the shoulder. Sounds like the dad was a moron.

This is opinion, you may very well be right, but we will never know as this guy did neither. Instead he fled and endangered his unborn child, wife, himself, the officers, and everyone else on the road. Once stopped he then proceeded to say he was going to get the officers. You can't objectively say the police were wrong here when they reacted accordingly to the situation. IN the situation you drew up the same result would absolutely call for re-training, but that's not what happened.

Maybe anti-cop isn't the right word, but I do think your view and take is clouded by what you stated above. Just like in the first sentence where you assume that if the guy hadn't been an idiot and had done things as most normal people would the cops would have reacted the same way. I'm not saying any of the reasons you stated for formulating that opinion are wrong or that I disagree with them. I guess my point was that though you may not necessarily be anti-cop, you assume at times the cop was wrong due to training/pressure/IQ even if the circumstances might not necessarily show that was the case.
