And wait for an ambulance? You take a chance either way.

Throw him in jail after the fact

Threatening PO's is a good way to end up in handcuffs.

Going over 100mph while doubling the speed limit is completely irresponsible and very dangerous. If he was arrested for going 80, OK that's a bit harsh. But what this guy did is just completely stupid.
Again, no issue with it. My thing is simple, if the end result is simply tickets, why not write them at the hospital.

God what a whiny bitch. The husband missing the delivery has zero bearing on the well being of the child. Your baby is here and healthy, now grow the frick up and worry about being a decent parent.

The guy shouldn't have been an a-hole to the cop. I don't feel bad for this guy at all. He handled the situation about as poorly as you could.
Hopefully he shows better judgement in raising his child.

I see your point. It's a pretty difficult situation. It probably could have been resolved by an escort to the hospital and an arrest after the birth of the baby, but that would take up too much time. Tough situation, although I don't think they were wrong in arresting him. Not sure what I would have done.

It's not some conspiracy, the "Village" doesn't have money for it. Check out their courthouse center and police headquarters to the right.

Agreed, but does the cop really have to arrest him given the circumstances? Why not escort them to the hospital and then write all the citations?
ETA: And im not implying arresting him was out of the question, it just seems like at the end of the day if all they did was give him a bunch of tickets, can't they do that AND him go to the hospital?
I wasn't there and have no idea how he was reacting. If he was cussing everyone out there then I prob would have arrested him too. If he was just in panic Prob would have called ambulance to the scene, towed their car, followed them to the hospital, then figure out if I was going to arrest him or write citations.

Why didn't he just escort him to the hospital and process the arrest later if needed?

With baby number three I went into labor before midnight ... on the way to the hospital contractions got ridiculous and when we approached Maurice I told my husband don't you EVEN think to slow down. Yeah well he did but not to the 40mph and I told him any cops follow us we're just calling 911 and they can follow us to the hospital.
But he also wasn't going 100+ mph.

It was Pineville. You know nothing else was going on in the city lol

Her husband is an idiot and HE is the reason he missed the birth. As Skillet said, being in labor does not give you the right to endanger other so recklessly. Have these idiots never heard of 911?
IF it is a true medical crisis (labor itself is not a "crisis" but premature birth is) then 911 is the way to go. Even if it isnt a crisis 911 is always an option.
I wonder how "premature" the baby was? My son was a month premature but that didnt cause my husband to drive like a moron on the way to the hospital.
ETA: now i see it says 7 weeks premature and there was blood on her feet. I would have definitely called 911 rather than be subjected to a ride with a maniac going 105 mph. You are supposed to keep the mom calm and relaxed, not subject her to a terrifying and dangerous trip to the hospital.

That is why I said "if" you are going to go 105, wait for an ambulance. For the other commenter, 105 puts others in danger.
I live in a rural parish and we have stellar ambulance service.

WIth the amount of tickets that village probably writes they can afford cameras. The whole reason they have police is to generate revenue. All of those small town police forces are shady revenue generators.

Exactly, and that doesn't even factor in the exit he was pulled over at is 10 miles from Creola. So he led a police chase for 10 miles with no flashers on passing on the shoulders, then threatened police once he was stopped. It's incredible that a story was ran on this, FFS.

Yea well, we don't so I don't blame him for rushing to the hospital. Again, don't do 105, but I can't blame him for not waiting on an ambulance.

I wasnt going to say it, but you know damn good and well the arresting officer wasnt doing anything but shooting radar before all of this.

This can't be real. In the movies, they gather the whole squad together and give you an escort to the hospital
Over a 100 is pure bs and he deserved at least the citation.
