Could you go outside and play like you did as a kid?

Listened to some of my students this morning talk about playing capture the flag last night in their neighborhood. Brought back some memories of going out to play with my friends as a kid.

I’m not sure I could get back into that zone, that free head space.

Say you were able to get back with your old buddies in your old neighborhood and you decided to meet up outside to “go play.” Could you do it? What would you do?

Absolutely.

Our friend group was at the camp on the Tickfaw a few years ago and at midnight we decided to go outside and play hide and seek. And it was awesome.

There's a twilight zone episode like this. An old dude thinks he's young again and plays kick the can.

Yea I’m near 40 and we still play 2 hand touch football at work. As far as tackling each other I wouldn’t wanna risk injury and be out of work though. I’ll even drink from a garden hose like we use to. Hell I’ll even still knock on doors and take off running if everyone was up for it

Of course I did. I wouldn't understand anyone who said they couldn't. Just because you're a certain age doesn't mean you can't have fun in ways that doesn't involve alcohol or sitting around talking.

Why don't your little arse join a flag football league? Or go play for Birmingham Rugby Club. They take brand new players all the time. They play home and home vs Baton Rouge Rugby in conference matches every year.
And Plenty guys play at your age.

What about before football? Like true imaginary games and scenarios?

When I play with my son, he’s completely immersed in the imaginative play. We really are in the Star Wars universe on a dangerous mission with everything on the line. I’m faking it. I know we’re in the play room with pieces of plastic.

Because he doesn't know yet that the real world fricking sucks balls and there's nothing mysterious about anything.

Drink or smoke more. Run Less.

I try to play with my 2 boys but they end up beating the hell out of each other and arguing and then I start yelling at them.

Much like my childhood

I have to get my kids one on one to be able to actually play good with them
