Most ancient armies will likely start worshipping you as the god of war or death.
ETA: Added parameters: You can have a suppressed rifle AND the enemy doesn’t initially know your position.

Bruh, if you start killing warriors from a distance, far outside the range of arrows, with a loud club that shoots “magic”, those motherfrickers are gonna start thinking you are the avatar of Ares or something.
When they say “ancient”, I’m assuming Roman, Greek, Egyptian, or earlier.
The “boom” would add to the mystique.
Think how the ancient army would react when they get in shield formation and the bullets pass right through their armor.
That shite would be terrifying to them.
Small holes just appearing on the bodies of fellow soldiers who are writhing in pain or just drop dead.
That is witchcraft.
There are obvious issues. For starters, a single barrel wouldn’t last you 60,000 rounds.

These threads are fun. Just idle message board chatter. Not serious stuff.
Yeah, you're right. Forget I said anything.

If you was to put me, 3 Silverbacks, 1 Chimpanzee, an M4, and 60 cases of ammo anywhere up to and including one mile of Alexander the Great with a clear line of sight... pack your bags, fellas, war's over.
What if Ronda Rousey is on Alexander's side?

Not a chance. I calculate the minimum it would take is 40 good guys. And they would need to have barrel changes, probably 4 each.
i imagine about going back in time to the south in the civil war. The soldiers can take everything they can hold off the ground for 15 seconds. 200 soldiers minimum to change the war. With 6 doctors. You have to figure you'd have to maintain a strict 24 hour guard on all supplies, taking probably 10 out of combat. And it would have to be early in the war. Being able to move to locations would be a key factor.
But in your case. No way. It would be hard even against 200 once they figured out what you could do.

Stupid question and hypothesis.
Custer’s 7th Cavalry of 225 well armed soldiers were killed by approximately 2,000 Sioux led by Crazy Horse in about 20 minutes. Only one in five Sioux had any guns, and most were of poor quality relative to the soldiers.
So the answer is absolutely no.

The Sioux knew what guns were. Firearms weren’t new.
You drop a firearm into Ancient Greece or Rome, it’s a whole different story.
These were societies that took statues to court and threw them in the sea when they found human shaped chunks of marble guilty. The gods were omnipresent.
Everyone is disregarding what these soldiers would think of invisible objects causing tiny holes in the bodies of the comrades by a loud, fire spitting, magical club.
That is witchcraft. They would freak the frick out.

Did not work with the British (armed with guns, rifles, artillery, etc) against the Zulus with nothing but spears and hide shields. Shure the British killed the first wave to two but eventually the Zulus closed and slaughtered all of them in close combat.

Give me a nice piece of high ground thats hard to get at an M2 with all the ammo and spare barrels i need. I suspect they'll figure things out eventually but there won't be near as many of them as there were to start with by the time they do.
One man? No chance. Three or four could absolutely hurt that army.

Need to add some flamethrowers to the arsenal

The rifle more than likely overheat and have a catastrophic failure if they all charged you and you had to stay on trigger.

What if a person were to identify Alexander early on and send a green tip his way?

After a few minutes of that, I'm sure they would just go around.

This sim has been done a number of times (not accounting for barrel changes and reloads) in TEBS; here is 100 modern US soldiers/jarheads against 16 Legions:

At minimum you’d need a serious bunker position and quite a few M60s.

Some of thse shields would be very effective against M4s or AR 15s.
Good point. Ideally I’d have an AR10. That’d be perfect.

You would definitely do some damage. The psychological effect on the enemy would be significant.
