Im not sure of the question here. I get it's a joke of the Avg OTer basically being "Thunderlips..the ultimate male"

But..

Could the avg OTer finish a marathon after training for a yr? Highly likely.

Could the avg OTer QUALIFY for Boston after a year of training? The avg OTer - no. Some OTers - sure

Could the avg OTer win Boston? WTH kind of thread title is this? Elite runners didnt get there in a yr...

Better question...could the avg OTer win a local lowkey 5k after a yr of training. Possibly..given a mid 16 is just under 5:20 pace. But that is still improbable

Right. But again, we were talking about just finishing. If you are trying to shave off 10 minutes to get under 3 hours, sure, terrain matters a lot.

Hopefully like 98% could finish
How old do you think people are on this board? Maybe 20% could finish.

I'm late forties and have been jogging for the last year and a half and can't comfortably complete three miles. Something always starts bothering me and I say "frick this." Ten years ago I was doing seven miles because that's all I cared to do at one time. Currently have a resting heart rate of 55-62, why can't I run longer, age or not pushing self enough?

, you are going to have to show an official race where you are running sub 3 hrs

I'm not quite that fast, but I plan to sign up for the Bawston Marathon with my 3.50 hour race time.
