It gets cold as hell in Wisconsin and snows. Disney makes year-round money in SoCal and Florida and doing so is essential to the financial viability of the parks. If we are talking about entities other than Disney - they would have the same concern. Don't compare Disney to northern latitude roller coaster parks, it's not the same thing. Sure, someone could put a roller coaster park there. But an all-inclusive perfectly manicured, super high-quality, abundantly staffed Disney-level resort and universe unto-itself? Not in that climate.

They had a relatively un-corrupt government committed to and capable of building it and plenty of wide open land to do it on. None of which Louisiana has anywhere near a city that could support it (needs an airport and a population base to supply the workers, you can't just build it way out nowhere in the middle of a timber stand in Winn Parish or something) .

Not happening. The country can't support another one. Disney has done the studies and they show that all it would do is cannibalize attendance from the other two parks.

If said developers where trying to do another Jazzland, it would fail, yes. Disney succeeds by doing everything 110% to separate themselves from the Universal Studios of the world. There are those few who would prefer Universal to Disney, but overall Disney is the attraction to which others try to emulate. Such as performing most landscaping at night so as not to disturb the guest. Regarding the employee pool, Disney brings in workers from all over the world versus relying on the local pool, developing talent to the degree which they deem necessary. The fact that these folks "get" to work at Disney creates a high demand for the jobs which permits Disney to only pick the cream of the crop. To do something that would truly rival Disney, there would have to either already be brand association or the developing company would have to develop a mega brand....in my opinion.

no, and we can't support the Olympics either for when that question inevitably comes around.

that's why I said significant amusement park,, not resort

I made the same argument you did , only I did it before you did and offered the MOST likely option and explained why it wouldn't happen

youre a fricking retard to be arguing against someone that basically made your argument before you did

One of the keys to the success of Disneyworld is the mild Florida winter means the park is conducive to hosting Southern Hemisphere vacationers. When you go to the park in the winter it is full of South American tourists on their "summer" vacation

so ?

the temperate climate is irrelevant. Disney would block for purely economic reasons

OR

and this is fricking brilliant

Disney should build the park JUST for the colder weather and make it a full time Frozen/Hoth( star Wars) resort

get all the lesbians to go and Bears love the cold weather

the bathrooms could be open to everyone

I know it's been 40+ years and they are either dead or out of office but I would love to out the people who Walt Disney dealt with. Imagine the negative impact they had on Louisiana !

I just don't see it happening, maybe a few decades from now. It is not financially feasible and all previous attempts have failed.

You could play real life Grand Theft Auto in NOLA or BR. I'm not sure how you could charge for it, but it would be fun and you could really die.

Wait. We already play that everyday.

This guy's been blowing smoke up asses for years.

Article from 2011

And another

Between the two, claims are made that he had $600M in investments already received. Of course, he revised his plan to expand to a $700M development.

Oh, he was planning to break ground in 2011 and open by 2013. Its now 2016 and he still explaining how it will be several years before anything opens.

I wonder if he has actually collected "investments" from people.

I don't know much about the "parks" in Tallulah or Harrisonburg, but I would think those places couldn't support much of anything.
