The cars aren’t sustaining top speeds at Le Mans like they would at Talledega or Daytona.
Does that mean Le Mans is tougher? Don’t know but it is different.

Yeah, but can a modern 600 hp supercar make a near constant 480 hp for 3-4 hours? That is the question here.
Yes. What kind of stupid question is this?

not the same thing, some classes may be based on production, but those engines are highly modified for endurance racing.
The cars have a lot of modifications such as aero, suspension, etc. but the powertrains are not "highly" modified. They are based on production engines. To say that they would run for 24 hours at Daytona or Le Mans but wouldn't last 10 minutes on an oval is ridiculous.

I never said they wouldn't last 10 minutes. The production engines are actually usually based on them. Things like bearings and lubricants are pushing different factors well farther than what you want in a production car you want to last 100,000 miles.
I'm kinda curious how long a production car would last running the daytona oval circuit. No manufacturer would ever want to support that type of run.

What's so hard about sustaining a speed(not even their top speed) in a oval race?
They're able to comfortably cruise in their 6th or 7th gear have turbochargers and intercoolers with Torque vectoring traction control, rear-wheel-steering, ABS, Active suspension, Active Aero, Full body undertray and diffuser. They don't have to follow the rules of a stock car racing body.

Who said anything about them needing to last 100K miles?

I'm no expert, and never claimed to be. I have built a lot of engines, and have seen first hand the lengths NASCAR engine builders go to, in the name of durability and longevity. I know that if you don't do a lot of those things, just about any engine will end up scattering itself. I know that there is very little reason for supercar manufacturers to go to these lengths.

No, but they are pushing the engine and transmission and brakes like motherfrickers.
Do people really think that Ferrari and Lamborghini don't put their engines through rigorous testing? Their reputation relies on it.

Clearly.

Except or the whole wanting to be able to sell cars and keep their reputations going.

I am not talking about a race or this question. A production car will be designed for some design life of the powertrain. It won't be for a 500 mile race or a 24 hour race. I gave it 100k as just an arbitrary number.
The race car needs to survive for the race weekend, they can try things with it to win.

Or like to win actual fricking races in these supercars.
YES, NASCAR does the absolute extreme to their engines as the rules allow it. They are fancy in their own way.

If the car is completely factory stock... Yes of course... Be competitive … Probably not..
Now, one of the modified GT cars from Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche...etc .. that's where you'd need to be..
But the answer is yes, if you go buy a supercar/Hypercar and race it like that it would survive.

Well frick man. I didn't know you worked for McLaren, or Ferrari, or Koenigsegg, why didn't you say so?

I'm not the one that acted like a know it all making some ridiculous definitive statements, now am I?
ETA: Let's revist your post that got me to respond to you:

I'm trying to say that supercars, regardless of which one, were never intended to be ran at even 80% capacity for however long a gas tank lasts, then pit to fill up, head back out and run at 80-85% time after time, for 500 miles. They weren't built for that, and I seriously doubt any of them could take it.
They were built to handle, look good, run well all around, and be able to do a high speed blast every once in a while.
So don't play the victim card now when your silly opinion gets called out.

Post 'em up. Lets see how definitive they are.

Look, we get it. A Nascar V8 revving to high hell and making as much power as they do N/A is impressive. They are impressive in their own way.
You just should realize that supercars have their own impressive powertrains that are also capable of being an every day driver and could easily lap a oval circuit for 500 miles at 80%+

There are definitely plenty of entry level supercars that attract douchebags and look good and have the propensity to catch fire and break down and overheat, but don't believe everything you see on Top Gear or TV in general.

Wait, What?? That's completely untrue.
Example: Porsche GT2RS & GT3RS .. Both cars that you can buy from a showroom that are race ready the minute they leave..
a lot of the high end car brands all have a GT car you can purchase..

Why would anyone want to take a SuperCar and make left turns for 3 hours? Sounds like a missed opportunity.

Why would anyone want to drive in a damn circle for 3 hours in anything...

They are idiots. They could all do 500 miles all out no trouble. They run cross country all the time avg close to 115 mph. Granted that isn’t 200 plus mph but that is 3500 miles. Porsche’s especially are bullet proof. They all might need to be torn down and rebuilt after the race but so are the NASCARS.
