Well YouTube astrophysicist says there is a supermassive black hole right here in the middle of our galaxy.

There's one in the middle of nearly every galaxy.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? Instantaneous for you but an eternity relative to those watching from the outside?

Oswald Bates, is that you?

To people watching you, yes. You will never appear to pass over. But to you going in it would all happen in real time.

There is one at the center of every galaxy.

the others do all the time but they control gravity on their vessels somehow so they don’t get crushed

NO. The immense gravitational forces would rip them to pieces

Sure, tie a rope around your waist before you go in, have a buddy hold it and your beer on this side.

A person could have whatever honorable intentions upon crossing the event horizon, but to the rest of the universe it would not matter what happens because they are literally no longer part of our universe. From their perspective, they could just as easily say they exist in a totally new universe. It’s more than just saying light cannot escape, it’s really that information cannot cross the barrier.

Black holes do evaporate, though, so there must be some information/energy exchanging right? Yes, but the information/light is completely scrambled and so contains no information. Maybe Alice or Bob(our observer) could learn some crazy stuff after crossing the horizon, but it would be a completely subjective experience. The knowledge would perish with them.

Someone mentioned an observer who crosses the horizon experiencing death for an eternity, but actually they would literally live until the death of the universe as time speeds up for the rest of the universe. Subjectively, who knows how long one would experience time before “dying” inside the horizon.

Leonard Susskind has some top notch shite on YouTube from a bunch of his lectures on all of this stuff, definitely worth checking out

black holes are not real. it is science fiction. stop with this total ignorance. there are no wormholes either. stop believing all that bullshite scientists tell you.

This... once you cross the event horizon, that's it. You're not coming back out, no radio, light or anything else is coming out.

You might discover all sorts of secrets, but unless you are granted the keys to overcoming all known physics, it would be for personal gratification only.

Can we get a Kickstarter running to fund a one-way ticket for Oweo?

I think it all depends on what is entered;

from what little I recall reading on such stuff, if you could survive being right outside the event horizon, you can similarly survive being just inside it. You personally wouldn't notice a difference, you've just crossed the point of no escape.

Now, here’s the kicker. Spaghettification occurs due to different tidal forces exerted on your body (if you were to dive into the black hole feet first). Your feet will be pulled at a greater rate than your head, stretching you out. But as your feet are also closer to the singularity, from your head’s perspective, this stretching is taking an eternity to progress.

Wait, what about frame of reference? Real time you won’t perceive the time dilation, but people at the original frame of reference would see it last forever.

Like in interstellar where the group goes down to the water planet and the one dude ages 30 years in the two hours they were gone.
