Chrome but I’m an old guy too.

Gun metal finish would look good on that vet.

This.
Black/chrome.
Subtle chrome ring, black face/spokes.
Use the stock rims, not aftermarket.
Solid car, bulletproof engine.

With that orange metallic I'd keep the chrome.
I have black on mine though.

If chrome was what the car was built with, I’d leave the chrome. I personally don’t care for chrome but it’s hard to find replacement wheels that make the car look better so choose wisely if you go black.

Always been a chrome guy but I honestly think I'd go blacked out with that car color.
Or go with what Obtuse suggested

What do those Grand Sports go for now? They were made 2010 to 2013 or so right? I think they look good.

You came to the right place-
Put a set of COS or TUF Rotiforms on it and you will amaze the fellow boomers at your forward thinking style and taste.
And you will make the Awww Bruhs at the gas station drool because “did you see the old dude with the Rotiforms on his C6?”
ETA- grey ones. Grey wheels on an orange car is legit. Black is getting played out.
Bonus points for the paw paw color.
Added bonus points if it has an automatic.

Are those factory rims or aftermarket?

My C7 Z06 came with OEM chrome wheels and it was just too much brightwork for my taste.
I got aftermarket forged wheels that were brushed aluminum with a clearcoat and I like them much better.
I'll never understand the all black wheel trend, I thought it would have died out in the early 2000's but it seems to be more popular than ever. IMHO the visual interest of the wheel is totally lost with a black wheel and it makes the wheel, tire, and wheel well look like one big black blob.
Similar car to mine, same forged wheels, went from black OEM wheels to silver forged and totally transformed the car:

Keep the chrome. I just don’t like that blacked out wheel look on vehicles.

I think you should lighten it up:

Black wheels with red calipers look sharp, IMO.
Or, black with yellow CCs.
Black on black can be a bit much, though.

I prefer the oem chrome, but if you do decide to paint those rims, use a high quality primer and paint. Eastwood products can help you with any questions and they have the right products for what you are wanting to do. I have used their paint on steel wheels and they came out great.
