I'm not happy at my current job and I know it's only going to get worse from here. Life is too short for me to accept that. You should do the same. Find a job somewhere that allows you to do more of what you deem important in life.

Work in general is way overrated by Americans. Regardless of what you do or how much money you make.

You are on the cost side. If you were on the revenue side, you would be more important to your organization and likely be in the travel mix.

It’s not for everyone, wife and I work together for a large Fortune 250 but we get to travel together. Basically work remote from wherever work sends us and get to vacation for free over the weekends. This will likely change when we have kids.
If you don’t like it that’s up to you to change it. Unemployment is at the lowest it’s been over the past 50 years or so. If you’re good at your job, you can easily switch to a non travel role.

Find the shitiest house in the nicest neighborhood and quit that frickong job.
Live on less and spend more time with the family. When they get older and are gone you can resume the travel shite.
They will be out of the house one day and all the money you made will still be spent with nothing to show for it.

I live in New Orleans. It’s not that expensive. It’s cheaper than living in Highland Park where all my corporate contemporaries live.

I did it for 20 years, traveling, living in hotels, eating out every night and drinking too much.
It was fun but once I had a kid I gave it up.
Now I work from home in shorts, drive my kid back and forth for school etc etc and I'm home all the time. I don't miss it

Work is not overrated if it increases your quality of life. Enjoy what you're doing, feel productive, and make money. If that isn't happening, make a change

Honestly, I miss it
It was fine when I was single but I didn't care for once I had a kid. You just miss too much and living out of a suitcase got old to me. I was about 50% travel too.
