I've seen videos of people dropping all kinds of things in these shredders, and as cool as they are I always have that thought of how horrible it would be to fall in, because none of them ever look like they have any protective......anything that would prevent anyone from accidentally tumbling in, unless that's something they remove for the sake of those videos.

Not a shredder, but back in the fall the 16 year old nephew of a coworker was cleaning up and fell into a commercial meat grinder and had his arm shredded up to the elbow.

How in the hell was there no blood?
a few quarts of blood mixed into huge pile of shredded materials is something you wouldnt even notice if you standing there when it happened
my only question is, who the frick doesnt punch in or get scanned in and out of their job each day no matter who you work for. someone had to see he never went home or vanished on that day at work

Whole story is sketchy.
Coroner probably preventing the dad from getting a fat life insurance check.

Hats off the the coroner for putting the pieces together to solve the mystery.

I wonder how the coroner could determine this ?

This is fishy as hell. His dad worked at the plant and didn't think to check cameras and stuff when he went missing? I don't believe he went into that machine alive.
My dad used to work for Workers Comp and would go out and investigate incidents such as this. From what he tells me this is more commonplace than you think.

Reminds me of the woodchipper scene in Fargo.
A truly iconic scene from one of my faves

Not to spam the thread, but I doubt a 20 year old working in a factory has life insurance.

That and it would have been pretty obvious that something not plastic had come out the other side of that machine. Not to mention the smell.
No shite. The guy in that pic is no small dude and looks to be in the 250+ lb. range, so lots of chopped up material should have been decomposing, especially in the heat of our summers in the south.

The smell alone would’ve tipped someone off.
That machine processed some 60,000 pounds of plastic shortly thereafter, so most of the tissue would have been worn away pretty fast.

the plastic shredding machine in question had been inspected three times before, including once by the deceased man’s own father.
Huh, what are the odds?

I imagine all his pieces would not be in and around the machine but mixed in with the batch of plastic that was being processed at the time. Not sure if that is in any way recoverable but needs to be checked out.
Also...I wonder if any of my future water bottles will have a little bit of Duncan in them.
