That's good.

We need to get to a point where virtually anyone who wants a test can get one easily.

We need to get past this bullshite of having to have severe symptoms and/or being old to get a test.

Next January we will be in phase 3, vaccination, treatment, and containment like the annual flu.

Better than the flu, because this virus doesnt mutate as much.

I wish this was known to be true but it is not known to be true.

It is strongly suggested. We can probably knock this shite out with one good vaccine if it maintains its current mutation rate

I read an article someone posted on TD that Iceland researchers have found 40 different mutations of it. Could be fake news? No clue.

Is that a lot? I have no idea.

I would like to read it. It sounds like fake news or at least misrepresentative of the truth.

This virus has the ability to check it’s own rna, unlike influenza, which keeps its mutation rate lower

So what can we learn from Iceland’s approach? The testing conducted by the National Health Service in Iceland along with further screening has already yielded some interesting results. Researchers at DeCode genetics have found 40 mutations of the coronavirus in Iceland alone; one individual had been infected by two variants at the same time. This is both good and bad news: the theory is that such mutations will make the virus more contagious but potentially less dangerous to those that are affected. Screening also indicates that children seem much less likely to catch the virus, but this may be influenced by the fact that children generally have mild symptoms.

As an example, hospitals are generating their own tests.

Friend of mine’s hospital has their in house test down to about 7 hr turnover time.

As of two days ago, it was estimated that the US daily capacity would move beyond 100,000 test per day this weekend. This still only tells us part of the story and serological test capacity needs to increase at a similar pace. Then the combo of diagnostic and serological testing can start clearing large chunks of people that can then return to normal life. Hopefully, this can be combined with treatment techniques that can shorten the duration of the illness

That data will also allow researchers to pin down the true CFR. This combo should allow for a return to normal life or at least the opening up of large portions of the country.

Home Depot wouldn’t let me in, so me and the other hundred people standing in line coughed on each other for 2 hours.

It's known to be true so far. The question is whether it will mutate over the summer and new strains appear in the winter.

but would a vaccine for this provide “some” effectiveness it it comes back in the winter (or whenever)? Kind of like the flu vaccine may miss the strain but it can still lessen the effects or is it just too soon to know?

Everything that I have seen suggests that COVID-19 is a lot more stable than the flu.

But I would think that the answer might depend on the kind of vaccine that's developed. There are several completely different approaches going on right now to developing a COVID-19 vaccine, and they would work in very different ways.

Yeah, just more info that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Looking at yesterday's statistics I don't think the state has classified it as a corona death. No one under 18 is listed.

The Kung Flu appears to be giving zero fricks in Italy. Many here wanted a purge. We may just get it
