Sorry. I meant 100 to 1. Right now the Us death rate is 1.1%. That means just over 1 out of every 100 cases results in a death. So if for every 100 people, 10 started to die, you would see that percentage increase. The outpacing needs to be at that 100 to 1 for it to stay at 1%. But it’s better than that because it’s continuing to go down.
This is of course is all predicated on the idea that asymptomatic people are being tested at higher ratios and that the rate of infection is indeed not increasing.
I understand what youre saying you and I are just looking at it differently. I hope you are correct.

Even if asymptomatic aren’t getting tests, that’s even better for the death rate. It means we are missing much more people carrying the virus and the death rate is even lower. Although that’s not good for keeping the spread down.
I keep saying this... the government isn’t trying to stop everyone from getting this. They’re trying to stop them from getting it all at once. There’s not way to completely stop the spread without a vaccine. It’s not going to mysteriously go away. So just assume that you’re going to eventually get it. They point of all this is to keep you from getting it soon.

Can you at least admit thats a rather large assumption you are making that such a population exists?

It’s the safest assumption out there. People have this, even showing symptoms, but aren’t getting tested and are, therefore, not a part of the equation which would bring the death rate down. This is true for any illness. It’s why the flu death rate is just an estimate. Because it’s “estimated” that a certain number of people get the flu and don’t get tested for it and just self medicate.

I'm coming to terms with these possible strategies.
A)Just let it run its course, go on business as usually and deal with it.
B)Full China style lockdown
B then A)Try to go lockdown style just long enough for hospitals to have all the supplies they need to treat everyone as best they can.
I'm hoping manufacturing catches up to provide hospitals what they need to treat everyone that requires treatment soon. I'm hoping this is less than a 2 week window.

Ohio has moved to closing all non-essential businesses. Everyone is to stay home. This has been foreshadowed for a few days at the governor's daily press conference. There was an article in the paper that compared (rather poorly I thought) both the number of cases and deathsv against the measures taken by both Ohio and Michigan. Michigan has been slower to take actions and has double the case count but I think it's far too early to determine what effect any measures/ closures are having. I haven't seen any stories here of overrun hospitals, yet. We did have our first couple of cases in our little rural hospital today.

Dallas County issues shelter in place order

Dallas County residents are being ordered to stay in their homes except for essential work and errands. All businesses that are not deemed essential are also ordered to stop operating.
County Judge Clay Jenkins announced the strictest limits yet on social gatherings and movement in Texas shortly after 5:30 p.m. His order, which came the same day the number of positive cases of coronavirus cases in the county surpassed 100, is the latest update to restrictions that were implemented March 12.
“This order is our best chance to flatten the curve here in Dallas County and save as many lives as possible," he said. “It makes me sick that we’re at this point.”
The escalation, which goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday, puts an end to social and community gatherings, including weddings and funerals. It was a move Jenkins said he was not ready to take only days ago.
Residents may exercise and walk their pets outside, however, they must stay at least six feet away from others. Restaurants may continue to offer delivery. Grocery stores may remain open. However, religious services must be televised and must limit staff on-site to 10. Elective surgery and dental work must be rescheduled.
The orders echo similar measures in California and New York.
Earlier Sunday, Gov. Greg Abbott said he was not prepared to put such restrictions in place statewide, noting that most Texas counties have not reported a positive COVID-19 case.
He suggested that local authorities put stricter policies in place if they deem them necessary.
“At this time it is not the appropriate approach to enforce that strict standard statewide,” Abbott said.
Jenkins, who earlier pressured Abbott to shutter restaurants statewide, reiterated his hope that Abbott would reconsider.
“I was so in hopes this would be a statewide ban and I would not be standing here tonight," he said, adding later: “We’re headed to a point of no return if we continue to doddle.”

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins was expected to issue a countywide shelter-in-place order on Sunday, marking the most expansive action yet from a Texas official to combat the new coronavirus continuing to spread across the state.
The "Stay Home Stay Safe" order, effective as of 11:59 p.m. on March 23, will continue through April 3. And it comes hours after Gov. Greg Abbott declined to issue a statewide shelter-in-place, though the state's top elected official noted he would applaud local leaders if they decided to take more sweeping actions for their jurisdictions.
Jenkins' order allows for people to leave their homes for outdoor walks and getting necessary items like groceries.

Michigan has a higher case count due to increased testing when compared to Ohio i believe. I agree Whitmer has been about 2-3 days behind the Gov of Ohio in terms of limitations (outside of closing schools).

I'm not sure when Michigan got their testing up and running but I know Ohio was one of the last states to do so. They refuse to report the number of tests performed though, in direct violation of CDC reporting rules so it is hard to compare. They started the drive through testing last week but then the private labs got backlogged to the point the health director said the state lab is preferred for a quick turnaround time.

Why no updated numbers for Louisiana?

I guess we're past the point of people crying "racism" every time a country bans travel in and out of their ports of entry.

They are removing freedoms all the same.
They applied limits in WW1 and WW2. They applied limits during the Spanish Flu pandemic. I've not read much about people blaming the government for those limits. I'm also not aware of any limits not being removed once the threat had passes.

I don’t know but starting tomorrow Edwards said there will just be a once a day update for numbers at noon. More difficult logistically to put the numbers together now given results from different labs.

I’m just asking anyone because there have been so many predictions about it and everyone says we are on the same trajectory. Seems like a relevant question?

Some good news from 3M

In the U.S., we are producing 35 million respirators per month. More than 500,000 respirators are on the way to two of the more critically impacted areas, New York and Seattle, with arrivals expected starting tomorrow.
