It is pretty useless to say much of anything regarding the “USA as a whole.” New York City and middle of nowhere West Virginia are like on different planets regarding this.

I did this with the latest numbers from the LA Dept of Health. I think it is interesting. Feel free to check my numbers.

welp, I'm almost certain I have it. I've felt like shite for 2 days. It's a mild feeling but you definitely feel it, especially in terms of being sore and having a headache. I'm a 30 yr old in NOLA with no pre-existing conditions, I'm a healthy guy.

didn't want to go down to the drive-through locations (I heard there would be limited tests and thought those could be better utilized with the very sick and/or elderly), so I called up Ochsner and they said I should do the telehealth option, where you see a doctor online via video conference.

here's how that's going so far:

They applied limits in WW1 and WW2. They applied limits during the Spanish Flu pandemic. I've not read much about people blaming the government for those limits. I'm also not aware of any limits not being removed once the threat had passes.

Espionage Act? Japanese internment?

Take the virus seriously, but don’t act like our government doesn’t have a history of doing unethical shithead things in a time of panic.

yes I know texting, "wtf" to an automated text messaging service is pants-on-head retarded, but this has been an all-day ordeal for me and I'm frustrated

% of POP DEAD is Mortality Rate.

Louisiana has a naive case fatality rate of nCFR - 2.4%

% of POP INFECTED will be interesting to track since models show 40 - 70% of the population eventually being infected.

Would have done the same.

Your altruism is admirable, but go get yourself tested. You need to know. If you really do have it and you get recovered, you can get out and make food runs for elderly folks who can’t. That would do a lot more good than you saving a swab for them.

They are referring to respirator masks, not ventilators.

These ships are massive and setup for cases that require isolation. They do have some interesting logistical issues though. Not with supplies but with staffing:

quote:

Each ship has a 1,000-bed capacity and is manned by military medical personnel, requiring about a week or more to mobilize those personnel from across the active duty and reserve forces. Pentagon officials have stressed that many of the reserve medical personnel that would be called up to staff mobile hospitals or Mercy and Comfort would be partially pulled from civilian medical facilities.

“The big challenge isn’t the availability of these inventories, it’s the medical professionals. All of those doctors and nurses either come from our medical treatment facilities or they come from the reserves, which means civilians,” Esper said.
“What I don’t want to do is take reservists from a hospital where they are needed just to put them on a ship to take them somewhere else where they’re needed.”

Esper said he’s been in consultation with several state governors on how the military can best support civilian medical efforts.

You talked about limits not being removed after the crisis and then you throw up this?

I mean, that is extremely limited information you are pulling from.

The US has completed 228,216 test and by the end of the week it is estimated that US capacity will be at 100,000 test per day.

SK has completed 331,000 test and has capacity of about 20,000 per day.

Italy has completed 206,000 test. I haven't seen a good estimate of their daily capacity.

Yes, but you are using a mortality rate based on a group that is skewed against asymptomatic persons being tested.

Link? Historically these things hit a global population at less than 30%
