I wondered that. Look at the recovery rates. Barely anyone has recovered in the US. And recoveries are still pretty low in Europe but not nearly as low as the US.
NY has like 5k confirmed and no cures.
I've been wondering about tracking recoveries. Hospital discharges seem easy enough to track but how do you track people that test positive but are never hospitalized? With that said, it has been reported that this virus takes a long time to run it's course. I'll look for the reference but, IIRC, it can be 3 - 6 weeks from exposure to recovery and people in the hospital are staying there for a long time.

There are so many reports it's hard to know what's true or false. It's harder than ever to parse through the bullshite and noise.

Idk that the recoveries will be tracked except for hospital cases. It’s been stated that two negative tests means recovered.
But those who have been tested positive here said that they weren’t given any follow up instructions about retesting.

The US was at 4000 cases less than a week ago. There are a ton of new cases that have to get through the process. Let's hope the percentage of dead stays where it's been. Follow Germany's path and things are looking ok.

Thery have drive through testing now. That isn't testing only critical cases so not sure where your info is coming from? There is SO much misinformation out there.
Los Angelos and NYC are moving this direction. And I saw an interview with Dr Fauci where he said we should be moving this way. I thought that was very odd as I everything I saw earlier in the day talked about ramping up testing and soon enough everyone will be tested.
Personally, I hope they get to the point where everyone is tested. I think people need to see high numbers to keep people to continue with the social distancing.

At this rate that would take a LOOOONG time man.
We've only tested like 200,000 since January 21st.

shite, we've only tested 200k since Jan 21, 1942.
its going to take hundreds of years!

Meh.
South Korea is held up as this paragon of immaculate and quick testing, yet they only tested about 270,000 of their citizens. In a country closing in on 52 million inhabitants that's just .5% of South Korea's total population.

This virus is essentially “trimming the fat” of society

Yes. I take the highest otc dose you can buy. I also have some good cough syrup with hydrocodone as well and I take a teaspoon every 8 hrs or so and two at bedtime. I think I am gonna be ok.

I mean yea, at current rate its like 271 if my quick math was right.
We won't get close to a point where we test everyone tho.

My understanding is that Germany is "cheating" and classifying a number of coronavirus deaths as the result of other comorbidities.

Believed to be fake.
Reports indicate that factory managers are being told by the government to keep lights and AC on and to falsify records showing people are back to work.
China is a POS country and an enemy to every other nation on the planet.
They are back to shipping goods though. I don't believe their statistics for a second but the factories are definitely coming back online

If they improve and do not require an intervention, we shouldn’t waste resources.

Tennessee is finally closing bars, restaurants, gyms, and banning visits to nursing homes. This comes after Nashville decided to issue a shelter in place order.

I fall into neither camp. I think that our current restrictions are generally having the desired effect, and that we need to keep them in place for about a week after we can test 150,000 people per day, which will happen inside two weeks.
In other words, we need to keep fighting, because we're going to win. I think we have three more tough weeks ahead, and the bluer skies.
I'm with you. I think that we need to generally stay away from one another right now. We will win, but people need to understand that a lot of these warnings aren't coming from elected officials pandering to a base. They are coming from epidemiologists, medical doctors, and PhDs who have no agenda and have (in most cases) dedicated their life to stopping infectious disease. Unfortunately, people are either panicking or blowing it off completely.
I have to go in to work at a new job Monday and I am very curious to see how people are handling it. It's a warehouse that supplies lumber to cabinet builders across the Boise area, so for a lot of the day you are a good distance away from others, but I am kinda at a crossroads. The economy is in the shitter, it will be hard to find another job, and that $2400 check we will receive can only hold us over for a month. Luckily my wife works at home permanently so she hasn't been shaken by this at all. But I have exercise induced asthma. And while that isn't nearly as serious as someone who has bonafide asthma, it does worry me a little knowing my lungs aren't the strongest things. All it takes is one of these people at this workplace not taking it seriously and we have an issue. It's really hard to know what to do in this situation. I don't want to throw away a job, but it's a serious case of evaluating the opportunity cost.

I think you're right and goddamn I hope you're right.

It would concern me, too. I say go in, see if it’s a shitshow. If it’s obvious that your health may be at risk, the world won’t end. Mortgage companies will work with you if things get bad. I believe all foreclosures are on hold at this point. Same is probably true with electric service and water. You’ll have some time to find something. May not be ideal, but it doesn’t necessarily sound like what you’re headed into is going to be a long-term career. Warehouse work sucks.
Good luck, man! Be safe.
