Just got tested for covid. My son in law is from Washington and returned home from visiting his parents last week. I went to visit them and my granddaughter without even considering that he had been infected during his visit. Well, he is showing systems as of a few days ago and got his results back yesterday. He is quarantined at home and I went and got tested. I have had a persistent dry cough for a few days along with a few other symptoms but I thought I had bronchitis. Took my test yesterday and am awaiting results. I won't be leaving the house and when I called my employer they accused me of lying in order to get out of work. I am expected to email my results somehow to them when they get in. I have to admit that I am a bit worried because I have copd but not really freaking out. I will post updates should I get a positive test.

I would absolutely seek employment else where once this blows over. Don't reward that behavior.

not sure if this stuff has been posted but there is some new literature out regarding some debated topics

Conclusion: COVID-19 patients combined with CVD are associated with a higher risk of mortality. Critical patients are characterized with lower lymphocyte counts. Higher BMI are more often seen in critical patients and non-survivor. ACEI/ARB use does not affect the morbidity and mortality of COVID-19 combined with CVD. Aggravating causes of death include fulminant inflammation, lactic acid accumulation and thrombotic events.

In hospitalized adult patients with severe Covid-19, no benefit was observed with lopinavir–ritonavir treatment beyond standard care. Future trials in patients with severe illness may help to confirm or exclude the possibility of a treatment benefit.

Hey doc, would a breathing treatment (albuterol) help break up some of this crap in my chest?

it wont break it up but it may still help you breathe because it makes your airways wider.

Tiguar, do you see an expanded use of the Hydroxychloroquine?

Did you also use the azithromycin on your patient?

Home state of Arkansas now up to 37 cases, from 22 basically a day ago. Hearing that several attended Mardi Gras or were close to someone who did, seems like there was quite a bit of transmission going on down there which isn't exactly surprising.

They're still monitoring another 130-ish awaiting results. Sister (no pics) is a fairly well connected nurse in NWA where they just got their first confirmed case, says their hospital alone has another 20+ awaiting results. That area is ripe to pop off if they're not careful.

Come on Arkansas, don't make Mississippi look good.

Why haven't we heard anything on the US media about using this drug as a treatment?

It's starting to trickle out... you will hear a lot more if positive results continue I suspect.

I think a major key to this entire thing is the 15 minute test

The hospitals are running out of PPE because every respiratory patient may be infected.

Imagine if you had a triage tent outside of the hospital where you could find out in 15 minutes if someone was positive. Then that person could be routed to a contained area of the hospital.

That would cut down on PPE use dramatically. We will get much better at managing this as time goes on.

I’m in LR, AR, and one of the parents my kids go to school with went down to st Patrick’s day parade in Nola with their kids last week. Why would you do that? When they turn up with this I won’t be surprised. Just glad they cancelled school before we could all be exposed to that.

have not used zithromax because it isnt bacterial and that french data didn't come out till recently

I do see an expanded use of hydroxychloroquine until "the next big thing"

I'm hoping Trump strong-arms the FDA to fast-tracking remdesivir.

Prime example of how much this hysteria has turned normal people into panicked and irrational people.

Yeah but they still went down and partied. They posted videos of them on balconies, walking around the quarter with everyone else doing the same despite cancellations.

Wait, I don’t think it’s irrational to cancel a trip to one of the areas of the country that is considered a hotspot.

I would really love to know if they track down the NOLA spreading to a single parade or something. It probably doesn’t matter but I’m still curious to know.
