That ain't gonna stop the hourly thread about getting a text from "a guy who works in healthcare" saying that we're minutes away from an announcement that we're to be welded shut in our homes.
I work in healthcare for a company that is so big that our CEO is one of those having daily conversations with the White House task force. I go into his office and other executive offices pretty routinely to deliver and discuss project work I’m on.
They haven’t even closed our office. I’m on my way in now and fully expect a full office

Increased testing would actually make the information even better.
“Testing in earnest” would only have impact on this information in a positive fashion.
We already know about the critical individuals.
We're "clapping coronavirus' cheeks," as the young ones might say. Hopefully it turns out that the social distancing and shutdowns are working, in addition to our healthcare system.

They are finding out in Europe that obesity is a major risk factor.
I looked it up and Italy is only around 20%.

I’d like to know that as well

I think it's the aged population in Italy. Again, I 'think". I certainly don't know for sure.

It’s basically a hurricane thread

Maybe that is a sign to go out and get away from all of this.
Yesterday it was warm and sunny so I did a scalp of the back yard and hooked up the sprinkler for the kids for the first time since last summer. The wife and I sat on the back patio and watched them run around like fools. It was very relaxing.
People would do themselves a lot of good to get away from a screen for a couple of hours (including a phone).

Why is this thread not stickied?
Because this is an attention seeker thread of misinformation and half truths.
I do not disagree there should be a stickied thread of information with very few allowed posters to contribute, but not this thread.
So much panic, lies and people that should take a break from posting.

Around 1800 people died in Italy and the median age was around 80...that’s a lot cooking experience and cultural wisdom that was lost.

Why isn't this thread a sticky?
It has shut the entire world down and it can't even get a sticky on TD.
It gives zero usable information and there is nothing helpful in this thread.
Why should it be stickied?

If a woman walks around, claiming fat is beautiful, then why does she get upset if someone calls her fat?

Spain has a much lower mortality rate than Italy
3.3% versus 7.3%
The US is currently 1.8%

Why should it be stickied?
Plenty of information is posted on this thread. Right now it's 1/4 information, and 3/4 everyone arguing back and forth whether those are meaningful numbers or false reporting or bad statistics or bad policy.
We have multiple doctors and nurses posting on this thread as well as professionals well versed in science and statistics. Tons of idiots as well, but I try my best to ignore that. I have learned a ton from medical professionals like yourself in this thread.
I agree with your overall lets keep calm approach and spending all day on this thread is counterproductive in some ways, but it is chock full of good information.
If the board admins don't want to sticky this its fine... discussion on this virus isn't going anywhere.
