Finally good news,

Recoveries are now outpacing deaths here in the US.

Obviously, recoveries are going to dwarf deaths, even in Italy by the time it’s all done.

With no medicinal cure, recoveries take a lot longer than deaths, so that’s why the number has been creeping up so slowly.

That is good news on the surface but I'm concerned that testing in earnest is just getting underway.

Your not wrong. Everyone should expect the total cases to increase drastically as more testing finally becomes available this week and next. As long as recoveries are in the upswing as well and serious cases stay stagnant we should be kicking arse like SK and Japan.

If anything more testing will only lead to a bigger spread between recoveries and deaths. This is a perfect example of good news getting poopooed in this thread like we discussed several pages ago

Exactly.

That is great news...period.

Increased testing would actually make the information even better.

“Testing in earnest” would only have impact on this information in a positive fashion.

We already know about the critical individuals.

Like you said, it is just one more example of good news being shot down or criticized, while at the same time, uncorroborated negative news continues to be lauded as fact.

Amen, Scruffy.

It will be great to see real progress with this. Italy's numbers leveling out would be a good start as people like to use what seems like an extreme example as evidence of what's to come here.

That said, people need to practice the social distancing. There were many disturbing images of large crowds and gatherings that just don't give a frick.

Just take a look at the upvotes/downvotes.

The post with the supposed good news has two of each, while the post poopooing it only has upvotes. Certain people in this thread are not interested in good news

Of course someone downvotes it after I post that it had none.

Why isn't this thread a sticky?

It has shut the entire world down and it can't even get a sticky on TD.

Never change OT

So cool to know we have the exact same population density, demographics, etc as Italy.

Honestly bc of that it could be worse. Just look at what happened in NOLA over the weekend. Yea, let's all gather against the law in one of the cities COVID-19 is spreading the fastest in.

But all I'm saying is numbers wise, literally the same thing.

Recoveries will continue to go up. And they are likely under reported as well... we need all the positive news we can get. I’m taking this bit of news as a win. Headed back to the hospital I will update later.

serious cases stagnant at 10.

I don't believe it. There's almost no way that that we've got basically no serious cases when every other country in the world has much higher rates.

People keep citing that worldometrics website, but nobody can show that their data is reliable. Can anyone do it? I'd love to be wrong on this.

They are finding out in Europe that obesity is a major risk factor. Apparently that didn’t really come up in China. Can’t imagine that bodes well for the USA

Not good. Spain is also spiraling out of control.

quote:

Spain becomes the fourth most virus-infected nation in the world, surpassing South Korea, as the number of cases jumps by roughly 1,000 in one day to 8,744.
