So would that include the public school systems that can have upwards of 3000 people on a campus?
Public and private schools are closed the rest of this week in Nashville.
And likely all of next week too if this keeps spreading like they think it will.

EBR will wait until there are 50,000 dead in the BR area and then close for the afternoons.

BEIJING (AFP, REUTERS) - The number of fresh infections at the epicentre of China’s coronavirus epidemic dropped to a new low on Wednesday (March 11), but the country imported more cases from abroad. Another 11 people died, the lowest daily increase since late January, bringing the toll in China to 3,169 deaths, according to the country's National Health Commission. There were only eight new cases in Wuhan, the city where the virus first emerged in December before growing into a national crisis and a pandemic. In total, including Wuhan, mainland China saw 15 new cases.

It’s irrelevant what is happening in chyna at this point
Posted on 3/12/20 at 1:44 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
understanding the next phase is not irrelevant
Posted on 3/12/20 at 1:45 pm to Salmon
it's irrelevant because our next phase will look nothing like China's.
We have people here bitching because basketball is canceled. There is no way in hell people will tolerate the draconian measures China took to contain the spread.

What chyna did is not possible in a federalist democracy

guess move to gump land or montana?
It’s in Alabama. UAB has 1 it’s going to announce and mobile infirmary is rumored to have 4 just waiting on announcement.
Alabama just started testing. That’s the only reason we haven’t had any.

Same for some other hospitals that shall remain unnamed.

I realize China went to extreme measures to contain the spread and that we won't come close to that, but that doesn't mean that everything from them is irrelevant.
I'd be curious about second outbreaks once they return back to "normal"

What part of the state?

Just assume it will be in all regions by the end of next week.

imagine if the mortality rate was flipped?
THEN we would see real hysteria
Then the Boomers would tell all the GenXers, Millennials, and Zoomers to STFU while taking credit for developing vaccines for diseases like polio, mumps, and measles that were actually eradicated by scientists from the Greatest Generation.

There’s no way to know whether the slowing spread is due solely to the quarantine measures or to decrease in the virulence of the pathogen. It certainly could be a combination of the two. Most of the previous pandemics did burn out after a while.

Is it really that bad if all the geriatrics in Congress die from this?

Ohio Governor extends spring break for 3 weeks starting Monday.
No gatherings more than 100 people
I didn't vote for this guy, and don't care for his politics but I give him credit for being progressive and out in front of this from the beginning. Starting with basically cancelling the Arnold Classic
