Did everyone have a good lunch or were you all too scared to leave the office and go out in public?

So just to be clear. Your wife, an infectious disease doctor, is still saying this is a nothing burger. Not as bad as the flu. That right?

Because I have a six year old and a job and can’t just drop everything at a moments notice. Is that a good enough reason for you?

Then why are you whining about quarantines in Italy ruining cheap travel without crowds?

They've got a shittier healthcare system than Italy and want to avoid a getting in the same situation as Italy. But, they're dumb for taking precautionary measures like this?

Do we know if the strand of corona in Italy is different?

The strand in Italy is not different. The virus clusters which forms hotspots in particular areas. If that hotspot happens to be an elderly population you are going to see much worse outcomes.

I hope your boss finds out how much time you've spent in these threads instead of working the past few days.

Correct. She still says this will not kill nearly as many people as the flu this year

So far, she is still about 690,000 coronavirus deaths to go before she is wrong

How can anybody see what’s going on in Italy right now and think this is a nothing burger

That’s a pretty terrible metric to judge a novel virus by. Is that the depth of her thinking on this topic? Nothing burger until total deaths exceed flu, then what is it?

The avg age of those dying are 81 mostly with underlying issues.

It’s not like it’s a zombie apocalypse

My wife just isn’t a huge pussy that actually studies medicine

That’s why some in this thread disagree with her

Nobody is saying its going to wipe out the human race.

But it will kill a lot of people if it isnt controlled, as evident by whats happening in Italy.

It’s killing a lot of people that are older and have other issues.

The mortality rate for anyone under 50 is like .2%

UK isn’t that scared. Yes, hand sanitizer is selling, but life goes on.

Granted, I moved here last Sunday.

The tube is dirtier and scarier than COVID
